Protein absorbency..lets dispell some myths-with scientific data

Repost of a thread I posted in November about the protein absorbency myth. The journal is long but the information in quotation marks came from the journal.

The next time a NUT tells you your body can only process 25 grams of protein in one sitting--refer them to this medical journal.

PAGE S95
"One popular myth is that only
30 g/hr of protein can be absorbed. Although this is commonly
found in both lay and some professional literature,
there is no scientific basis for this claim. It is possible that,
from a volume standpoint, patients might only realistically
consume 30 g/meal of protein during the first year".

Thanks USAF Wife. I had read about this myth on bodybuilding forums but needed something scientific to back it up.

Just my experience, but if I eat or drink more protein than that in a sitting I get pretty serious intestinal distress.

My sister gets that if she drinks any protein drinks, even small ones. I think it depends on a person's body how their tummy/intestines react to things. For example, there's no amount of sugar alcohols that my body is happy with, but some people eat a bar with 10 or 12 grams and it doesn't bother them.

A 10 oz steak has over 50 grams and I used to do that routinely. I now drink 40 gram protein shakes every day.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9

Yeah last week I tried to make my shake w/milk I was uncomfortable all day.

Could've been a lactose reaction though.
