Totally OT - So proud of my little girl!

 My daughter is having 12 inches of hair cut off today in order to donate it to Locks of Love, her hair is her pride and joy and to do this is a HUGE sacrifice for her (it's almost all the way to her rear end, and she has been growing it for years). 

I will come back with pictures to share later. 

aw thats great (: I did that when i was younger. I'm growing my hairout now to do it again.. just a few more inches.. haha

That is awesome!  My daughter has done that a few times. I made a promise that when I lost 100 lbs that I would cut my hair and donate it. I will be there before I know it.

Congrats to your little girl for doing such a wonderful thing. It is truly amazing to be able to help children feel better about themselves when they have such terrible things happening to them. Congrats to you mom for raising her to be generous!

You have a beautiful (inside and I am sure outside) little girl there. My daughter did the same thing. Her hair was her whole identity, but when the Locks of Love people came and spoke at our temple, she volunteered on the spot. She was 8. It still brings tears to my eyes.

After I replied, I reread your post, and realized that your daughter is 12. Wow, I think it is much harder for a girl to do this at 12 when the way you look is so much of who you think you are. She must be very, very special.

I'm always so amazed at how easily kids just "get it" about those things. I can only imagine how proud you are feeling. Her kindness and generosity is a testament to your parenting. I hope you are proud of yourself, too.
