 Hi,

My sugery was Monday the 19th and overall feeling fine.  My question is that since the hernia was repaired I have had zero issues with acid reflux- I swear the surgery was worth it for this alone!  If you don't have acid issues, do I still need the acid reducer?  That is one bitter pill when ground up...

I still had acid issues for a while. It's much better now and I only take something as needed.

I never took the acid reducer as I never had any problems with it.

i had a humungous hernia repaired too, but still have the acid, which is a bummer.  i'm only taking one pill now, when i had to take two before, so that's good, and i take a bunch of other stuff so this is just one more little pill.  as for the yucky bitterness, find out if you can just swallow pills.  i was doing that as soon as i got home to no ill effect.  beats eating the gross things!

welcome to the loser's bench!!!!!   ((((((((((((hugs))))))))

I am just 5 days postop and have been using acid reducers for years.  My doctor prescribed Nexium for one month postop to help healing.  When I asked him about the future he said that many sleevers have problems postop but not all.  He suggests that when my Nexium prescription is finished that I take a 2 week break and see how it goes.  If I have problems I can always go back on the acid reducers.

I hope this helps.

Thank you everybody!  I am allowed to swallow pills, I am just afraid to do that one.  My allergy meds and D3 are much smaller, and they get a little stuck :(   Maybe I will try skipping it tomorrow, as it is a good point that I can just add it back in if needed.
