your favorite protein to add to coffee?

My surgeon said decaf coffee is OK in moderation.   Like a lot of things, you'll find the individual guidelines provided by surgeons will vary on this.

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)  

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Cake Batter - recommended by brandilynn and hands down the best vanilla protein powder. 120 calories for 24g of protein.  Oh, and the toffee caramel fudge is pretty tasty too!

Most plans don't want you on caffeinated coffee at first because it's acidic (hard on the healing staple line) and might have a diuretic effect.  When you're struggling to get fluids IN, you don't want anything moving them OUT.  And some docs worry that coffee may lead to ulcers.  I've never had stomach/acid problems with coffee though.   I did decaf for the first 3-4 months, then went back to regular.

I use Syntrax Nectar in Vanilla Bean Torte--one scoop is about 100 calories and 25 grams protein. It doesn't clump. What I do is while the coffee is brewing, dump the scoop of protein into coffee cup. Add about 2-3 ounces of milk. Stir until protein dissolves. Then add hot coffee while stiring. Viola! No clumps and delicious! :)

I love the Nectar Cappucino in my coffee (pre-op).  Still waiting for real food before I start back.

I use 1/2 a sccop of Isopure Dutch Chocolate inmy coffee with some splenda and a littl cream.  Love it!
