Yeah, I know, I should know this...but hairloss....
Tripmom,
I know this is a tough time for you, but yes, it does stop. I have wavy curly hair, and it isn't very thick, but it never looked as thin as it was. I've always kept it short so it looked thicker. 4 months out from surgery I was littering the counter top with hairs. It got pretty thin and I had scalp showing through where my hair kind of parts. My hair also got very dry and brittle. To say I was bummed is an understatement.
I used to do hair for a living and one thing I learned in beauty school is that our hair carries every drug we ever injest. Take an asperin and it will show up in your hair 2 hours later. We get surgery, anesthesia, blood thinners and a host of other meds. Our protein levels decrease and our bodies go through MAJOR changes, so our hair is going to suffer.
I recommend getting a good conditioning shampoo with shea butter in it. Also, make sure you get ALL your protein in!!!! if I don'****ch my protein levels for a few days, my hair will get that listless look to it.
With that being said, all my hair came back and maybe even a bit more! It is nice in texture and wavy like it was, so I'm a happy camper again! So...hang tight and do the best you can till it starts coming back again!!

I have freakishly thick.coarse hair. My losing lasted a solid 3 months, and it did get noticeably thin especially on top. BUT, I had new growth coming in before the shedding stopped. Make sure you vitamins have zinc in them (it's supposed to help with regrowth as well). I used folicure shampoo (found on amazon and at Sally's beauty supply) every other to every 3 days. It's drying, but it cleans out the follicles to allow the hair to push through.
I promise it grows back. My hair was back to normal by about 18 months post-op.
