POLL: Do you take calcium/D3? What is your favorite form?
Alright, so I just searched through old posts to figure out what type of calcium we need (Citrate, NOT carbonate which isn't absorbed by our bodies). I like the chewy bites, so I just ordered some off bariatric advantage... for $18 with shipping! Yikes! For 60 chews! Ouch. Anyhow, I thought I'd do a poll.
1) Do you take a calcium supplement? If so, does it also contain D3?
2) What is your favorite brand or type?

I take either Citral petites or Upcal D. It is a dissolvable powder and you can add it to liquids or foods. It is commonly used in nursing homes. I order a large box from Amazon and it is cheaper than the chews.
Sadly I am bad w taking calcium but my labs look good.

I do this liquid blueberry stuff. I'm too lazy to get up and see what brand it is but it's in a brown bottle and I get it at a health food store for 7 dollars. It's liquid citrate with magnesium citrate + D and it tastes like blueberry yogurt. I tried 2 chewables and they were so bad I couldn't take them.
Calcium citrate does not need stomach acid to be absored.....calcium carbonate does. It all depends on the individual.
RNY patients absolutely NEED citrate....many surgeons say sleeve patients can do fine with either. However, if your labs are low or you take any type of PPI that might lower your acid production then I would stick with citrate.
