attn: BC wls patients... possible news

Tonight, Jan. 24 on Global Network News from 5:30 - 6:00 there will apparently be a discussion about possible changes to BC Medical covering the cost for surgery on the 'flap' from the tummy remaining after major weight loss (panniculectomy). WLS patients or hopeful patients may wish to check it out.
May only be on the British Columbia channel, maybe cross-Canada... I don't know. Possibly also on their website following the show.

 oh Canada I'm so jealous of your healthcare.  hope these aren't bad changes, i still want to live vicariously through you all. I will be using money earmarked for my retirement for mine. :(

 Sad to say it was just another story about a patient needing the surgery and not being able to get it easily. There is increasing pressure on the government to cover it but no announcements or anything positive as I was kind of hoping for.
Oh well, maybe later this year???

that would suck, i got a tummy tuck (covered by insurance) for free here in saskatchewan 10 years ago.  i had to wait two years on a list but i got er done. (plus they did a scar revision a couple of years later and some lipo around my hips that was covered too)

 Well they sometimes cover here if your panni gives you rash, pain other problems ... I will know more details once I see the plastics guy next month.
I will happily wait if they will pay for it. Otherwise for me, I will have to live with it as there just are no bucks for plastics work.
Yeah, and a little lipo would be a lovely thing.... I'll keep dreaming!
