Feeling a little sheepish.

Throughout this journey I have been fighting off cheating.  I do not cheat frequently, but certainly struggle with this.  Last night I ate 2 mini vanilla ice cream sticks (they were very small- 1 serving is 5 of them) AND doritos.  Almost 400 calories of crap.  I didn't think that my surgery today was bothering me overall, but clearly the emotional eating got the best of me.

Here is the sheepish part.  Woke up today knowing I needed to make a sensible adjustment back to plan.  I decided that I would only eat 2 ounces of food at the meals.  Period.  Less if I wanted, but not an ounce more.  I wasn't any hungrier then normal and now feeling a little sheepish, as before I was averaging 3-4 ounces a meal.  Live and learn :)

The best thing to do is get back on your plan and it seems you are already doing that. We all make mistakes and have moments of weakness. Chin up and keep working toward your goal...you can do it!!

You are not alone.  I am supposed to be trying to lose 10% of weight prior to surgery.  I am so
stressed about all the waiting that I too have been chowing down on everything but the
kitchen sink.  I had lost 15 of the required pounds but all this waiting is so stressful I just felt like
I have plenty of time to get a total of 23 pounds off.  Like you say "live and learn."  Good Luck to you.

Best thing to do is to get back on plan. And good catch to figure out emotional eating vs hunger.

In regards to 2 oz vs. 3-4 oz. per meal, you might want to check out some of Frisco's previous post regarding under eating your capacity (if you haven't seen them before). Really good advise about eating until your satisfied rather than full. I know---hard to believe we can be satisfied with 2 oz. but that's the miracle of this process.

Regarding your 400 calories of crap---can you get your biggest temptations out of the house? Then substitute some more nutritious replacements. Make some frozen yogurt bites or cheese crisps or something else to substitute.  Be prepared...those temptations will be back...but you can give yourself better choices.

Good luck.

This is a former addiciton for me- even with the lower calories I can overeat the heck out of it!  Of the 160 pounds that I am overweight at least 100 came from ice cream :(

We all have our demons. I believe I will always have them, but I have to learn to live with them and make friends. Other than the surgery, the best gift I gave myself last year was a counselor. She really does help, we are just getting started, really, after 8 months, but I have a lot of demons

After reading your story, I have the courage to post my struggle and get some advice.

I was sleeved on the 13th. Since surgery, my tastes have changed so much that I can not longer drink my Isopure drinks, my protein makes me gag, carnation instant breakfast which i have loved for like 35 years makes me want to puke, and milk tastes horrible.  I was so afraid I wasnt getting enough protein and my hair would fall out that I went out and bought some chicken enchilada soup (no tortilla strips or pico) from chilis which is 420 cals and 23 grams of protein. I pureed the crap out of it  with a little low fat sour cream and had three different meals over the past two days from that one bowl of soup.

The thing is, I realized today (after eating pureed eggs) that I am only TWO weeks out and I should be doing one more week of full liquids before going onto puree.  I simply don't know how I will do it.

Has anyone introduced pureed at two weeks out from surgery?  I dont want to ruin my tool, but I also dont want to have no energy or lose my hair.

Also, to the OP, you had a small slip, but I have been reading your posts on here for weeks and you will get back on track. I have faith in you!!!!

Hmmm.... not sure what to say about your soup from Chili's.  On full liquids there were many soups that I was allowed to have, but some I could not.  I just don't know where that particular soup falls-- under puree or full liquid.  For sure if you have a chunk of anything it is puree and you should avoid it for a little longer.  I could do purees at the beginning of the third week.  I am glad to read that you feel comfortable enough to post though- I think that is a really great step.  For me, OH serves as one form of an accountability check and it does help :)

To a previous post- I don't keep crap like that in the house anymore.  I simply at this time do not have the ability to stay out of it consistently.   This was at work.  During the day I can stay away from it, but i was scrambling to finish setting up my classoom for the 2 weeks that I would be gone- no small feat.  Despite working at that for the previous week I fell prey to the teacher's disease of there always being one more thing to do...  stayed later than more normal late and got into the crap.

To a different previous post- I have been on board with Frisco's suggestion of undereating the sleeve- I just didn't realize that I wasn't doing it very well if that makes any kind of sense.  Still confusing head hunger with the real deal at 5 weeks out, go figure.  Yesterday was very enlightning for me though.
