I'm the Fat Gril again....

I just got a call from the cardiologist's office who had to reschedule my pre-op Thallium Stress test because she said due to my weight I have to have the test in 2 parts instead of 1.

Has anyone encountered this? I assured her I could fulfill the test in one visit but she said that policy forbids it due to my weight. Does any one out there know why? She refused to give me a reason. I told her I could walk on a treadmill for atleast an hour. The test is 6 minutes!

This is why I am having the surgery. I am so sick of being the fat girl.

Thanks for listening.

Sharon

Hi!
I had the test done on one day but there were 2 parts to it.  I did the treadmill part and then the body scan thingy.  Each took about 15 minutes and there were a few people waiting in between.  It wasn't that bad.  I must say I never enjoy an iv but once it was in it was fine.

Good luck!

Hi Sharon!  I was supposed to have the surgery on 8/1, but my heart rate went down way too low and they couldn't get it back up, so I woke up in recovery without having had the surgery.  They thought that I was on too much beta blocker, which turned out to be the problem, but recommended the test you're scheduled for before rescheduling.  I also had to do the test over 2 days, and when I asked why, got some vague answer about people with bigger chests.  I  figured the explanation was a polite way of saying I was too heavy to do the test in one day.  I was also sick of so many obstacles because of my size, so I can relate.  I just tried to view the test as my ticket to a new life, and got through it.  When I passed, it felt great and I never looked back.  Luckily all was well and I had the surgery on 8/22.  Having the test will be one more hurdle you've cleared to your new life.  I'll be routing for you!!!

Whoa, your story was......something. I cannot imagine going into surgery and waking up and not having it. I'm so glad it worked out for you. The things we go through on this journey. Best, Sharon

Hi Sharon:

Mine was two days also,  first  day treadmill,  but  they also shoot me up  with something  to  raise  my  heart rate I  bet  it  was  all  of 4 minutes  and  I  was  done.  LOL   Next  day  went  back  for  scan.  Also  shoot me up  with  stuff to see the  scan  that  day.  I  will  almost  bet  they  don't  want  meds  in  system together.  Scan  was  about 1/2 hour.  Not  that  big  of  deal.
