I had surgery with Dr. Aceves on Monday Feb 6, it went well and I would certainly recommend going to Mexico. No laprosopic gas pain, no stomach pain, just assumed it would hurt the first time I tried to swallow something. Not liking that the scale hasn't moved, between my scale and the doctors there was six lbs difference when I got home, assuming this was iV fluids etc. not putting much faith in my home scale though as of this am I am back down to the surgery weight in Mexico.

Seems so strange to have gone over a week without solid food And no real hunger or desire to eat. I thought I would have trouble cooking and wanting to nibble or the smells making me crazy. I made a nice spaghetti dinner for my bf last night... No problem didn't even want to try. He took me to the Legion pancake breakfast on Sat, we talked and shared the paper and I was fine. The only time the smell got me a little was at the mall walking past the Subway freshly baked bread smell. So far so good. We are going to a movie this afternoon. I imagine the popcorn smell may get me a little but I know what it is and I am ok with that.

I have not had any problems getting my two litres of liquids in per day and 70-80g protein in liquid form.  I tried two tbsp of greek yogurt yesterday and spent about an hour licking it off of a spoon which also seemed to go well. I do seem to like warm drinks vs cold. Not a pain thing but more satisfying in way. Maybe I will try some jello today.

If I keep feeling like this I am seriously thinking of going back to work early but then I do have home work to do

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone

Wishing you the very best and a speedy recovery. If you have a long way to travel don't forget to ask the airline for wheelchair assistance. They carry your bags and you don't have to stand in line at customs or security they just wheel you to the front in a special line.

Other items I am glad I brought
1) earplugs
2) tic tacs
3) ipad. Being from Canada my family was so relieved to be able to see me on Skype and I gave them a hospital tour

Fantastic news. That's great that you have no problems getting in your liquids. I am still working on getting in 32 to 46 oz per day of liquids. Really struggle with the protein shakes too. Yuck!  It got really hard once I started mushies. It's funny and amazing that we can not only survive on just 2oz's of food but also have no desire to eat anymore. Eating is no longer enjoyable for me, or all I can think about. It has become a chore now. Amazing how quickly things change. I do love never feeling hungry however. I can certainly get used to that.

Hi There

You are just a couple weeks ahead of me. Yes, it is a strange feeling not to be hungry. I am still a couple weeks away from mushies. This would be so much harder to do if I had a growling tummy and was feeling hungry all the time.  I see Dr. A also did your surgery, did you have as positive of an experience in Mexico as I did? Where in Canada are you from?

I did have a positive experience. The halls were a bit noisy at night with a crying baby, but it's a hospital and that is to be expected. The restaurant service at the hotel was slow but very attentive, and we spent 2 hours enjoying our meal and all talking with each other. I was the only Canadian in my group. I shared my experience with a lady from Hawaii, with her friend from Seattle and two sisters from San Fransisco and London England. They were both revising from the band to vsg. I was the only one having a straight vsg, so I was the first surgery of the day, which I preferred anyway. Overall I have only great things to say. I am from Toronto, Ontario. I would do it again in a heart beat.
