overwhelmed with tracking..app suggestions??

I have been hand tracking in a notebook and it is getting overwhelming. I found the fitday app and like it but I wonder if there is an app that has a recipe input section where you can track your own foods or input your own label info.
I'm not sure how to track an item like what I had for lunch yesterday. 1/2 cup pureed Dinty Moore beef stew. It's difficult because 1/3 of the can is potatoes and I removed those and tossed them before blenderizing the rest and adding some beef broth for thinning. I'm not sure how much of the carbs to take off when I track. I still kept the few little carrots in because frankly I have very little carbs and I like the added taste. I don't want to get in the dangerous habit of "guessing" but I really don't know how else to figure these sorts of things out.
I am keep my carbs under 40, my protein at 60, and my cals are still only around 300-350 for the daily total. I don't know how I'm supposed to get 600-800 cals. I'm sure that will come easier with time but is it terrible that I'm that low on cals (I'm two weeks post op)? I eat 3 "meals" and two snacks with at least one protein shake per day. (and added protein to my 2 snacks).
Do you have a favorite app to help you track? I want to check out a few and find out which one I like the best. Thanks!

I did not like myfitnesspal. I like "lose it" app on iphone. There is also a website. You can track your nutrients as well as calories. I love that you can scan the barcode on food and it automaticlally imports the nutritional info. My only complaint is that there is not a way to track your fluid intake.
I use myfitnesspal and really like it. I have several recipes entered - look for the Recipes tab on the computer version. There's also a way to enter recipes on your smartphone or iPad. You can scan foods using a smartphone as you're adding ingredients to your recipes.
I plan to print my progress charts for the past 6 weeks to show the NUT when I go for my checkup next week - calories, protein, and carbs.
Pre-Op Weight Loss 20 lbs ~~~~~ Surgery Weight 289
Goal weight 180 ~~~~~~ 6'0"
Month 1 (21 lbs) ~~~ Month 2 (10 lbs) ~~~ Month 3 (14 lbs) ~~~ Month 4 (12 lbs) ~~~ Month 5 (9 lbs) ~~~ Month 6 (11 lbs) ~~~ Month 7 (10 lbs) ~~~~ Month 8 (8 lbs) ~~~ Month 9 (9 lbs) ~~~ Month 10 (6 lbs)
Goal Reached in 10 months
I LOVE myfitnesspal on my iPhone - it's easy to add recipes or foods, plus you can track exercise & fluid intake.
I used to use FitDay on my laptop, but I still had to journal on paper during the day, then input it every evening - tedious!
I also have MasterChef recipe software on my laptop, so I can input a recipe into that, it calculates nutrition, which I can enter into myfitnesspal as a 'food' rather than a recipe.
BTW - I'm new here! Appointment with my GP this week for a referral (ihopeihopeihope) to a bariatric surgeon...

I use My Fitness Pal too. I have it linked to my Fitbit (which I wear almost 24/7) and LOVE all the information I get from both sites. Since I'm already on too many boards/websites as it is, I haven't gone looking for other tracking sites (fitday, Lose-It (which I think MAY have an Android app now, not just iPhone). Earlier today I found Sparkpeople, but am not sure if they do tracking. I'm on so many websites/forums as it is, I saw no point in joining yet another when I can't keep up with the ones I'm already on, lol.
