Anyone have IV in hand

I am 16 days out and I still have a bruise and some soreness when touched. I just think over time it will go away. They tried to put the i.v. on the side of my wrist?!? I had never had one there and apparently my vein didn't like it so I ended up with it on the top of my hand.

Since you say it IS red and swollen, call your surgeon.  Most give an emergency contact number where they can be reached this soon after surgery.  If you don't get him, I do suggest Urgent Care.  If infection is setting in, you'll want to get started on treatment.

I had phlebitis one week following surgery, my IV was in the crook of my arm, and the pain swelling and warmth was about 5-8 inches from the IV site, went to ER and was treated.
