I was craving a hot dog and the regular ones just have too much fat and not enough protein for my taste. However I decided to try Morningstar veggie dogs and I could not deal with the taste. I will be interested to see what other suggest!

There are better and worse choices out there. In general, hot dogs are usually not your best bet because of the fat content, the sodium and the nitrates. There are better versions, like Applegate Farms uncured hot-dogs, with 110 calls and under 8 grams of fat and 330 mg. of sodium. Not great, but better than the others. There are also low fat hotdogs. Ball Park has some that are 50 calories each but they have nitrates.

You aren't going to eat 5 of them, you may not even be able to eat a whole one.  I am of the philosophy that if you crave it, it's better to indulge once than wait and eat til you get sick.

I am 3 weeks out and we are told to eat Vienna sausages because of the mushy texture, that's pretty much all a hotdog is.  If you are worried about carbs, have one by itself with out the bun.

personally, one of the reasons I had this surgery was to be able to eat within moderation. im talking a small plate of food, or a half a hotdog, not the whole damn pizza/lasagna/or gallon of icecream.

so yes, we can eat anything. but our goal is to learn to eat healthy, ALWAYS focused on protein first. Not a diet, a lifestyle.

But, I feel that living an exclusionary life and labeling foods as "bad" or "good" is unhealthy. You will be able to eat anything after you are healed. Remember though, after your sleeve you must eat foods that are nutrient dense because you can only eat small amounts, they must count.

That being said, I will never live in a world of "off limit foods".

Someone, hand me a corndog!
