Oh, thanks so much you guys for all of your responses! I just called and ordered the Syntrax Nectar samples. I went and read the reviews and mostly everyone said they are delicious, so I'm going to give it a shot. Others said that they were too sweet, which is right up my alley because I absolutely love sugar (which is probably why I'm in this predicament in the first place, LBS.)
For protein powders, like chocolate and vanilla flavors, should I use milk instead of water for taste?

You can use milk......that does seem to make the chocolate/vanilla flavors taste better and gives some extra protein.
However.....make sure you haven't developed a lactose intolerance. I did post surgery and could not drink milk. It made me extremely gassy.
I switched to Lactaid or almond milk....depending and that went much better.

I'm glad you got the Syntrax sample pack. I did the same.
I mixed 24 oz of water with the fruit drinks and 12 oz of skim milk or almond milk with the sweet drinks. You can also add Torani SF syrups to the sweet drinks to tweak the flavor a bit.
Personally, I prefer the Vanilla Bean Torte and generally preferred the sweet drinks. Ended up buying a large container of the Vanilla through drugstore.com for around $33. Also bought a container of the unflavored Suntrax protein powder there, for $18 or so.
Hang in there, it gets easier when you have all the right tools!

also... i almost forgot... iso-100 has a chocolate one that actually has a little mocha taste... like an arys Jamocha shake :-) so that's another option
I can totally relate! I never found 1 that I could tolerate!!! I mixed, added, subtracted and I just never found 1. The vitamin shop finally gave me a credit because I kept bringing them back (on God's truth, I tried EVERY SINGLE ONE in the store)....Some people just cant tolerate them. I ended up not using protein shakes....Good luck in finding 1 that you can keep down,,

For a while post op I was having massive issues with protein drinks. I had tasted them before surgery and thought they weren't too bad. After surgery I couldn't tolerate any protein I tried. Eventually after a month or two after struggling I went back to one I had given up on right after surgery (unjury). I know use Unjury all the time, and it is high quality whey so I don't mind paying a little more then some other brands. I agree with some of the people above. I don't drink it to enjoy it, I drink it to make sure I stay healthy. I like all the flavours, however I am not keen of the sodium in the chicken noodle so I don't use that one.
Best of luck. I know how scary it is to struggle with protein.
