I finally asked my doc what size Boogie I have and he said 36 French. How does that compare to some of you?

I have a 34f.  My doctor told me he didn't make it super tight, so I don't have the world's smallest sleeve.  I have to weigh and measure, and not rely on restriction.  I am well-satisfied with my current food plan (700-800 calories, 6 months out).  I only eat 2.5 oz of dense protein per meal, 3 if flaky fish.  A few veggies on top of that.  It would be possible to eat more, but I don't.

I have a 34f and my surgeon oversews.  Bougie is only part of the equation.  Surgical technique, along with length of the stomach (taller people have longer stomachs?), oversew, etc can all play a factor.  Plus, how tight your surgeon pulls the stomach around the bougie can vary widely.  Your 36 is pretty typical, I think.

thanks for your replies. My restriction is pretty good, so I'm not that worried, but it did seem high compared to what I have seen some of you post in the past.

I feel much better,

I asked my Dr about this before my surgery.  He said he does not use one anymore.  He said they insert a camera down the throat just like the endoscope procedure I had as part of my pre-op 2 days earlier.  Then he uses the camera 'cable' as the boughie; running it all the way to my pyloric.

That way, they can use the camera as they pull it out, to view their staple line and watch for any errors. so, my sleeve is as narrow as the camera cable.

Hey gurl, my surgeon does a 36f & oversews. All I know is at 6 months out, I dont eat much more now than I did at 3 months out. I hope it stays that way for a long time!

I have a tight 40. The way my surgeon does it, I don't know if I could handle anything smaller - I can still barely eat 2 ounces of dense protein at 10 months out.

I think surgeon technique has at least as much to do with restriction as bougie size in the range of 32 to 42.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
