1 year surgiversary

Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of the best choice I've ever made. On March 11, 2011, I was in Mexicali with Dr. Aceves feeling every single emotion you could imagine.
As I look back of the last year I'm proud of how far I've come, but like many I thought I would be farther along my journey by now. I have lost 103lbs total. I lost about 85 lbs in the first 6 months, by 8 months out I had reached 100 lbs down! (woot woot) but in the last 4 months I've really struggled and only lost about 3 lbs. On one hand I am so damn proud of how much i've lost, I think I look great, I feel great, and I'm happy, very happy. I would be happy(ish) if I stayed at this weight forever (190lbs) BUT, then I think about my orginal goal of 150, which I quickly changed to 160, and now I've even pushed it to 170 and I wonder why I haven't forced myself to get there. My reasons for not meeting goal (yet) are the same as everyone else's; I got comfortable, I pushed my limits, I got off track with exercise and diet. I also got discouraged because the weight wasn't falling off as quickly anymore. I wish I hadn't waited until I was a year out to re-evalute (although I really re-evaluated all along and just never took action) but now I am taking action. I want to lose 20lbs more. That I believe will be my ultimate goal.

One thing that I have really found pride in is that although I haven't lost anything in the last 4 months, I haven't gained. Maintaining a weight for even a month or two is something I had never been able to do before, so kudos to me for that, but now it's time to kiss the 190's goodbye!

Some of the advice I'd like to pass on to anyone out there that is willing to listen:

Stay on the boards. Check in to the forums regularly if for nothing else to find motivation.

Keep moving, but change things up. Everyone says this, and they mean it. Don't get in a groove of the same workout/diet everyday for 2 months. Switch things up a bit.

Your sleeve does not decide when you are done losing, you do.

I can't figure out how to post photos, so I will add then to my profile.

Good luck to everyone!
Thank you for the continued support!

Heather

Love your before and after!  Your beautiful smile is even bigger :)
Your daughter is a cutie!   In the after pic, you could be sisters.

You can do this!   You look great where you are, so only you know if you're at a good weight, an easily-maintainable weight.  That's my goal, is to be at a weight that I can maintain without struggling every minute.  I'm not sure where that is, though.  It *might* be where I am, since I haven't lost in almost two months.  I want to lose a bit more, but my body seems really happy here ...

If you decide you want the 20 lbs gone, you can do it :)   Look what you've already accomplished!
Great job :)
