Yeah I don't believe it produces NEW hair from new follicles but I believe it makes the hair follicles produce thicker stronger hairs so if my face has an issue already but the hair is fine and thin, my theory from what I saw is that the biotin made tthat same hair thicker and stronger, thus appearing darker and appearing to be more... which on a face is NOT a good thing. Thinner, finer hairs aren't an issue since no one can see them... thicker darker ones are the devil.

so i can look forward to my peach fuzzy blonde 'stache to go all dark on me i suppose lol.  gaaaah~!  i already have weird long black hairs growing out of my neck, chin and boobs.  i think i'll maybe skip the supplements and  hope for the best that the 'good' hair (aka the stuff on my head) doesn't fall out!

in researching biotin it does sayy it promotes hair growth... if anyone does have excessive amounts of body hair all over... i can only assume it  would add more wherever hair grows... the body when taking it doesnt have a selection code in swallowing... so in the researching it and deciding to take it also includes examining yourself and your own body and have to think on everything when deciding to take anything.
Myself, i haven't excessive hair. i have lost some due to my weightloss but i am happy with the results in taking 1000g of biotin a day... for the new growth has helped me. buyer/takers beware as always... it isnt for everyone... for everyone is unique

Yeah I think that when people take it they don't realize that it's going to help all of the other hair grow. That's why I posted this. I NEVER thought all of my other hair was going to explode. For some reason I just thought the hair on my head was going to be healthier and stronger!!! Sounds silly but I just didn't make the connection!

THANK YOU FOR THE WARNING!! I can't believe from all I've learned that I didn't even think about my PCOS excess hair also increasing from Biotin! I came across this while searching Biotin, info came up regarding PCOS and that taking Biotin could help insulin resistance symptoms. I'm 46, very very close to Menopause. Have gone from a few chin hairs 4 yrs ago to nearly 90 now. So humiliating, you feel like everyone sees and knows your daily routine to hide it! The bikini line/tailpipe laser hair removal yrs ago... you'd never know I had it done "back there". They warned me pregnancy could cause hair re-growth from changing hormones, but Never mentioned Menopause would do the same! PCOS, a total self-esteem killer (35 yrs of acne, ins res weight battle for 20 yrs, now thinning hair on my head with excess in other regions)...Ggrrrrr!!

I have not had gastric bypass but I have had PCOS for my whole adult life and like many woman we all have some things in common. My hair on my head is fine since they regulated my thyroid but i have hair growth on my chin/neck. I have not gotten any new hair growth for yrs since being on the spirolacton and metformin. Problem is getting rid of the embarrassing hair I have now. I am so glad I stubbled on your post because I was considering biotin for my nails and my hair but I will not be taking it now. Thank you for the fyi
