Join us!  The goal is to take 10,000 steps a day.  If you don't have a pedometer 1 mile equals about 2000 steps.  At work, if it is a day where I am seated a lot (professional development type day) I put in about 4500 steps.  On a regular classroom day about 7500 steps.  I add a walk in at night to boost me over the 10,000 mark, the number given to me by the team as a good weight loss target.

If that is a lot for you, try determining your average over a couple a days.  Then increase that by 10% a week.

Yesterday 14, 561 steps and the DH was over 23,000.  He walks during his lunch and again with me at night along with his regular work out.  This is why he is outlosing me and he didn't have surgery :) We both take off the pedometer while working out on the elliptical and weights, but that is just our thing.

Happy walking!

Like Happy Teacher, I was issued a pedometer by my weight control center that works with my surgeon. It is very simple and the brand name is accusplit eagle. There is a website listed on the pedometer...accustep.com.

I use one from Walmart .by Sportline... ..$20 and is goes in your pocket. I don't like the clip kind cause they always fall off!  8400 steps on my night shift last night.

14500 for the day.  Thinking about getting a Fitbit if I do this consistently.  I agree with the previous poster- I have the clip kind and it does fall off every so often.  It has a little clip that catches it though, and that clip falls off more than the actual predometer.  But hey, it was included in my program and no complaints!
