Really? Average loss from month 3 to 6 is only 15 pounds?
And, for those of us who have 100+ pounds to lose we'll drop numbers on the scale faster, but it's just about the same rate with percentages. Some lose faster, some lose slower. The true number I worried about was the "percentage of my excess weight" I had lost in X amount of months. I couldn't compare the number of pounds because those who had 175lbs to lose lost the "pounds on the scale" faster or more pounds per week, but we were neck in neck with percentage lost on a monthly basis.
I hope that makes sense. My pregnancy mush brain is in full effect so if not, maybe someone else can explain it better.
Best way for me to say it is :
Patient A has 175lbs to goal
Patient A has lost 95lbs in 4 months
Patient A percentage of weight lost is 54% in 4 months
Patient B has 115lbs to goal
Patient B lost 65lbs in 4 months
Patient B percentage of weight lost is 56% in 4 months
Same percentage of weight lost, but the heavier patient has bigger numbers on the scale.

Many surgeons/nutritionists don't use actual pounds lost as a guide for success. They use percentage of excess weight, which I believe is more accurate. For instance, my surgeon uses the following guidelines for determining success:
6 weeks -- 25% excess weight lost
3 months. -- 35%
6 months. -- 55%
9 months. -- 70%
12 months. -- 80%
I plan to achieve 100% excess weight loss and reach goal at 12 months or earlier. So far, I think I will be able to achieve that -- keeping my fingers crossed, my tracker fired up, and my mind set toward goal.

80 pounds at 3 months?? I'm at 60 pounds at 3 months, 10 pounds preop, so 70 pounds total but only the 60 counts. 3 more months with another 60 pounds to lose??... Not too likely considering I lost like 12 pounds last month and 16 pounds the month before. The lower weights have such lower actual numbers that their percentages equal and everyone says that the higher your weight is, the quicker you lose, but **** I'm just not seeing that with my numbers. Not everyone loses 20 pounds a month. I see a lot of people losing 12-15 pounds a month so I think that's pretty normal...
My plan is still to lose about 10 pounds a month by following my plan and exercising like a fiend!

When I told my doctor that I wanted to lose 120 pounds in 6 months, he smiled and said 120 in 1 year would be good. He told me that he was proud of my progress a couple of weeks ago.
See my monthly numbers below. They add up. I'm just a little past the 9 month mark. Yes it slows down, but who cares because THEY ADD UP!!!!
