Dinner Discussion.......Like being Pregnant.....

I recently had dinner someone I hadn't seen since WL, We had worked on many projects together when she lived here in Nor Cal.....

So fast forward past the shock of my weight loss..... We were at a Tapas place and shared everything ......I love Tapas..... Small plate high flavors.

So, I'm eating a bite or two from about 7 dishes.....and she notices everything about how I'm eating.....

First was....."You really don't eat rice anymore???" (she is Asian also).... My answer was sometimes a little bit. Oh... if your wondering.....this girl doesn't have a weight problem... my guess is that she is five foot nothing and this side or that side of 100lbs.

Second was...."You really enjoy food." It was probably because I was asking the waiter person to find out what spices were in a certain dish.
Showed her some of my food pics and told her about some plans I had for some food projects. She mentioned that their Ad Agency was getting a national Restaurant Chain as a client..... So I may be shooting Pasta, Potatoes and breads !!!! Whatta yah supposed to do.....Heck, I don't have any problems working on Alcohol related promotions......I would do a cigarette campaign in a second....why not sell carbs !!!

Third was......"Your really fine with that much food?" I'm good.... I really enjoyed the meal and had a proper amount.

Forth was.... "How much food did you eat before surgery" I said a pretty normal amount for a fat American. (I can say that because I'm a born in San Fran .....Ford and Harley Davidson American)

Fifth was "So, you go from eating eating huge amounts of food to what your eating now in a matter of days?" I say.... pretty much yes. My stomach has just been fixed/repaired to my current and future needs. But, I had to explain to her that it took me about 6 months to a year to really establish new normals for myself where I don't even think about the quantity anymore. My satisfaction comes from flavor and what I need to do to maintain my weight.

Than she says....."It's just like getting pregnant".......I would have choked on my drink if I was drinking something.........She says "yah.... one day you find out your pregnant, than you go through a period that you know the life you knew before was going to drastically change. The good lord (or who ever) gives you 9 months to get ready for it.... than it comes and you adapt !!!!!

I'm like....well.... I never thought about it like that.... but yah...that is very similar !!!! And for the rest of your life you have to maintain that relationship.

That is funny!  Haha!  Sounds really logical to me.

I'm now just hitting 9 months and feel like I'm settling into my new normal.  Well, other than really limiting calories and carbs, even more than I was before, to get those last few pounds off to hit goal.  I just pray that 600 calories is not my maintenance calories!!!  I think I'll freak!   Shouldn't be, but just sayin', can't keep it this tight forever.  8.8 to go!

I miss your food pics by the way... seems to be less of them lately.  Bring 'em on!

I've read them all, I think!  Yours and other VSGers... same theme... last few pounds are hard to get off so give 'em hell!  Elina also commented about my sodium yesterday.  Very pertinent. Trying to cut that back too.LOVE the food blog... can't wait!
