I'm so happy I get to write this post.  I feel like I've been working towads this day forever.  So here's my story:

Woke up at 4am, got on the road at 4:45 and arrived at the hospital at 5:30.  Got in-processed, checked my vitals and made sure I wasn't pregnant.  At 6:15 they took me and 4 other patients to Anestesia pre and post op.  Met my anestesia team, got my IV put in (they used lidocaine to numb it before which I thought was quite nice) then my surgeon came around with his team, made sure all was well and he signed my stomach.  Anesthesia gives me something that makes life a little blurry but I'm still conscious and off we go to the OR.

I switch myself to the table, they give me something else but I'm still awake, then they put the mask on and I'm out cold.  Wake up being wheeled down the hall being rather vocal about the pain I'm in and that I'm going to be sick.  Remember the anestesiologist say, you shouldn't be awake yet and then I go out for a bit more.  It's funny because I always tell them that narcotics and sedation don't last very long on me my body metabolise them very fast and thye never believe me.

Get to recovery room about 4 hours after I left.  Found out that the reason it took so long is they had a few issues in there.  Aparently one of my numerous falls off of a horse cause scar tissue to form on my spleen and my stomach and they were fused together.  They needed another set of hands and 2 more incisions to fix it.  I also had a pretty large hole in my diaghram they had to repair.

Everything is sorta blurry though, I know my husband left at 2pm to get the kids but I don't really remember anything until 4pm.  I got out of bed at around 8pm and 10pm and pain was well controlled with the pump. I spent the night in the post-anestesia area and slept horribly because it's quite noisy.

5am got moved to regular room and have a fabulous nurse. Had my swallow test at 11am and since everything was ok my catheter was removed and I started to go for small walks every hour.  Unfortunately fell asleep without pressing pain button and woke up in horrible pain.  That was really the worst of it though.

Because my surgery team was in surgery all day the next day I wasn't released until 9pm and made it home at 10pm.

Slept the night in our big recliner and had to get up every 2 hours to pee.  Today I'm doing much better.  My husband got me some gasx strips and that has made all the difference in the world!  Hope everyone else who was sleeved this week is having a good recovery too.
