So to get to a normal BMI I "only" have 72 lbs to lose.  My final goal of 130 is a bit more but 149 is my first goal of a normal BMI and then I'll see if I want to continue to the 130 then.

So those of you who had under 100lbs to lose when you had surgery, did you notice weight came off slower?  Do you think your journey varied drastically from those who had more to lose?

I also had 70 lbs to lose. Yes - losing slower than those who have much more to lose. At 5 months I have lost about 53 lbs. I am very happy with this though - should still reach my goal in about 8 months. I am losing about 4-5 lbs a month at this point, though I think that may even slow down a bit. Im already getting some pain on my right side that I am pretty sure is gallbladder (have been taking Ursodiol) so its probably good for me that it hasnt been faster. Also havent lost any hair and I think my skin is doing OK since the weight loss is not so drastic. I look and feel healthy. Good luck!

I had My surgery Feb 21 2012,  at my 1 month visit i lost 30#, Dr. told me they want me to lose another 40#.     my BMI was 35 when i had surgery.   the weight is comming off fast,  Dr was suprised  becase i had the sleeve and I was one of their light weights ( how she put it)  LOL.  I am feeling great, a lot of enegery.
My 22 yr old daughter had the surger 3 weks after mine, March 16, 2012, and she lost 18# in first week  where as I lost 9# in first week, we both  had the sleeve, her BMI was 46, my BMI was 35.   so the bigger (more fat)  the faster it comes off.

According to my BMI at 5'6" I should be 155 at my highsest. This is the lowest I would like to be.  I had my surgery on August 1, 2012 and at almost 9 months out I am down 75 lbs total.  I have lost over 83% of my excess weight which is better than average for VSG patients.  I dropped the first 60 lbs in less than 5 months and now the weight has dropped at only 4-6 lbs the last 4 months.  On a good note my body fat has dropped from over 48% to 30.48 precent; my goal is 28%.  With that being said, reaching the normal weight for my BMI will not happen for my goals and I am okay with that. I set out on this journey to be much healthier so learn the percnetages of lean body mass, body fat percentage, etc before you set a super low goal.

Currently I fluctuate between 168-172, I can wear size 8 -10 depending on the brand and I am the smallest I have ever been in my life.  I am happy with the results but still need to work on some muscle definition.  At this point I am not stressing over the last 12+ lbs but enjoying where I am.

I am a lap band to sleeve revision.  Being a revision and a lightweight is especially more difficult to lose. Going into surgery I had 50lbs to lose.

I do believe the weight comes off a lot slower.  I am averaging 5 lbs a month.  I have 17lbs to go to get to my goal of 140 (I'm 5'6).

I'm happy so far.  I knew it was gonna be tougher for me.  I am a size 10 right now (also the smallest I have every been in my life!)

At  first the weight came off quickly but by the first of the year it went slowly. I didn`t lose anything
until the second week of Febuary. I have lost 5 pounds so far this month and am very happy with
this. I don`t  get on the scale every day that was driving me nuts so now I weigh myself once a week. I have 20 pounds to go according to my Doctor but my goal is 10 more.

I was a lightweight beginning at 218lbs at 5 foot 6 inches.  I lost 100% of my excess weight in 7 months and I am hovering at 133lbs.  Saw my Doc last week and he wants me to maintain now.  Easier said than done.  Who would have though a year ago that would be a problem LOL!!!  Light weights or heavy weights, we all struggle and have challenges - you gotta keep on keeping on!!!

I guess I am considered a "lightweight" (man that sounds nice), lol.  I just had my sleeve done March 19th so I am a newbie.  I wake up every morning and look in the mirror waiting for a skinny person to be in the reflection, but the weight is coming off.  I am diligently keeping track of my calories and getting 700-800 calories a day so I know the weight will come off!  Today I start phase 2 of my post-op diet which is 2 weeks of full liquids.  I get pudding and cream soups today, yippee!!  I hope the weight doesn't come off too slow!

At time of surgery I had 86 lbs to lose . . . .I had surgery on 12/21/11 and I am down 67 lbs in three months.  I only have 19 to go!

I think that is pretty quick!?!?

I also am considered a lightweight.  I am 5'3" and weighed 219.5 on my surgery day.   I have lost 54 lbs at almost 6 months out, currently 165.  My docotor is thrilled with my progress.  A friend had surgery the same day as me and has lost over 70 lbs, but she had more to lose (her goal is 130 lbs I think).  I have not been able to exercise due to having a dislocated rib and it has taken a LONG time to heal.  I have now been pain free for 2 weeks and the doc says give it 2 more weeks, if no pain, I can finally start exercising.  Gonna start with the spin bike first and see what happens.  Hoping that will help me get to goal.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my sleeve.  At my recent doc appt, he happily says "You are overweight".  I looked at him funny and he explained that I had been "obese" at my last visit!  He told me not to have a goal weight but a goal BMI...he wants me at about 22-24 for BMI.  We'll see how that goes.....I want to be a size 6 in most clothes....But not stressing too much.  OH, my doc also upped my calories a little because my Thiamine level was low (usually happens with alcoholics but can happen with starvation too...so 800 was just too low for me.)  I am now eating 900-1000 calories a day and taking a thiamine supplement, and low a behold, my recent plateau broke. Yay!

You will do well not to compare your journey to someone elses.  It will drive you crazy!  Jus****ch your numbers drop, work the program and you will be successful!
