I dehydrated about 9 days out but I think my tell tale sign was weakness.  I had to get out of the shower a couple of times just to sit down and rest.  Luckily it was my post-op visit and the doc just put me in a wheel chair and wheeled me to the ER which was located in the hospital right next door.  They hooked me up to a "banana bag" of fluids which made me a new woman.  I was good to go after that.  Just try to get as much water in you as you can but definitely call your doc.  Good luck and it does get better every day.

Good that you called your doctor.

Make sure to watch your urine input.  If you are going as normal and your urine is light in color, you are doing well.  I used that as my barometer (along with temp) during my early post sleeve time.

As someone who had to go in for fluids 3-4 times after my VSG, I'm telling you, its no big deal. If you are getting behind on your fluids, there is no real way to "catch up", so if you think you need a bag or 2 of fluids, go get them. In and out, no big deal, easy peasy.

This is for the newer VSGers- People make such a big deal about getting fluids, they hem and haw about it for days. if you arent feeling well, just go get it and be done with it! That's my motto. The sooner it gets done the sooner you feel better.

Remember the rules. 60 ounces a day is an ideal minimum. Most of us dont hit that for the first few weeks. Its more like 45 ounces of fluid. Sip, sip, sip. Always keep an array of fluids so you dont ge bored. Set a timer for ever 15 minutes and drink 1 ounce of fluids every 15 minutes you are awake.

Protein shakes do count towards your fluids. But remember- for every 1g of protein you need 1 ounce of fluids for your kidneys to process.

Feel better!

I got dehydrated on day 4 post-op. Severe chills. Went in and got a bag of IV fluids and some Zofran for nausea, and all was well.
Afterwards I got some Gatorade, warm tea, and popsicles, which added to my water and broth got me to at least one and a half liters a day for the rest of my first week. I didn't manage 64 oz until day 8 or 9.
Have you tried inceasing your carbs a little? Too low causes a wierd feeling for me. Maybe a 1:1 diluted fruit juice with water or watever is available on your diet?

Good luck.
