Maybe I need to up the calories to 1000 a day. I normally eat around 700. I stall for weeks and then drop weight pretty quicker after that. Hum... maybe I just need to keep my calories low and deal with my stalls... I know everyone is different.
But thanks for sharing because it's something to consider in the future if I feel I need to switch things up a bit.

Here's the thing, I'm over 5 months out (definitely NOT a vet), but I've watched a lot of people *play* with their diets to try to break a stall. IMO, that just becomes fad dieting. You want this to be long term, so give yourself the time your body needs to lose the weight in a healthy way. Right now, most of our goals are "get to goal." But, if you lurk on the maintenance forum like I do, you see that new issues arise and the people who have made this a lifestyle change work through those issues the best.

Stalls are very frustrating, but simple math tells us that 3500 calories = 1 lb and I doubt many of us to get close to eating that in one day. For me, without workout, just that deficit alone puts me at a 1-2 lb weightloss per week. Do I always have that? No. Water retention and other factors vary my weightloss.

The best thing to do during a stall, imo, is to reevaluate your diet and water intake. Make sure you are rocking the protein, keeping the carbs low and/or doing whatever diet your NUT/surgeon says to do - just make sure you haven't varied from it. If you want to tweek something, add in one more glass of water. Try to walk 1 extra mile a day. Try to add ten extra grams of protein or try getting your carbs below 30. But, the key is to NOT start the fad diet way of thinking.

Just make sure you are rocking your plan and your body has no choice but to catch up and drop the pounds.

Oh and OP - congrats on the 12-pound loss.

It was the "change" in calories.....not necessarily the amount.  Our bodies are constantly striving for "balance" or stasis.  A sudden drop or increase in calories....or activity...or change in type of activity...etc all throws our body for a shock and it reacts.

It will eventually find its groove again and things will slow down again....then you may need to "shock" it again....maybe with a change in exercise this time.

I'm glad your stall broke!
