Why-Loose Skin....???

It's ok - I was just referring to this:

This isn't devastated or full of despair, it's making fun. It sure sounds like people who are depressed about skin issues are really stupid for having the nerve to be upset about skin as if it's ridiculous.

Clinical depression is a state where you become lethargic and unable to function. We all are depressed from time to time and many factors can make us depressed. That's why I said depressed about skin issues as opposed to suffering from depression.  I know all about  living with depression and I understand the difference between being depressed/very sad over something specific and having clinical depression. I wasn't referring to people who are clinically depressed. Clinical depression had nothing to do with my post. Maybe I just should have said "very upset and devastated" to avoid confusion.

Wow... is this cussing directed at me?  I was simply voicing my perspective.  No need to get ugly.

Obviously my health is a priority for me too... I did manage to pay for the surgery on a credit card.  But I also don't want to get to a point where all of my family's disposable income revolves around what surgery I need next.  That doesn't seem fair to my husband or to my (hopefully) future kids.  Not saying that things might not change and I won't ever be able to pay for plastics... just not looking very hopeful in the next several years.

I do agree that preops need to know that loose skin is a very probable reality.  I just don't think we need to be harsh about it, considering this is something most of us have at least thought of once or twice preop.

I think you'll find that when you are a vet at goal and you come here and try to help and you have answered the same question 5x that day just like the day before your perspective begins to change a bit.

If you don't have a little fun it's boring to come to the boards at all.  Seriously, answering the same question thousands of times over the years... you have to lighten things up a bit.

Newbies need vets, they need the experience and suggestions.  If you want vets to stick around we are going to post about off topic issues, we are going to make fun of ourselves, we are going to lighten things up a bit.  It's the nature of the beast and you'll do it too, eventually.

Please remember, you are a few days post op.  You are supposed to be a little emotional and sensitive.  It's okay, we've all been there.  Maybe when reading something like this just try to keep that in mind.  I'll bet you a cyberdollar that in a couple of months a thread such as this .... you won't think twice.

Fair enough... I am still a little emotional, and I'll be the first to admit it.

Having said that, I still think it's important to be as patient with newbies as possible.  If someone had made me feel like they were poking fun at one of my posts early out, I'm not sure I would have kept coming back, and that would have been terrible because I have learned a lot from the great people here, and arguably even gathered the strength to do this in the first place by frequenting this very board.

I totally understand that certain topics get old.  I'm already feeling that a little on this and other topics.  I just felt like this was unnecessary.

But that's okay.  I don't have to like it.  I have voiced my opinion and moved on :)

Here is a minor flaw in your thinking......

Not saying this in a negative way.....maybe it's the posture I took when I started......

The vets don't really have to act anyway.....most active vets are within the lines......and react within sensible  boundaries. The newer people need to get accustomed.

I'm totally not speaking for myself.....but I think you will find that most active vets have more answers than questions and don't really have to be here or cater to your needs...... It's not our job to keep you here.

If you were here for the pld DS forum..... it would be much clearer.

I know this wasn't directed to me but here is a MAJOR flaw in your thinking. None of us have to act any way. We all need to get accustomed to each other if anything. I understand that people think you're amazing and, yes, you lost weight, but I don't "have" to get accustomed to anything that you or anyone else does or says. I will voice my opinions as I see fit just like you will yours and everyone else will. Vets don't have to be here either (I love most of the vets) and just as Elina mentioned, the new people keep her on track as well. The new people don't have to bow down to you and cater to your needs either. And being here does meet a need for you or you wouldn't be here.

If I recall, all of the DS people are gone now.... for a reason.

~~If I recall, all of the DS people are gone now.... for a reason.~~

But we aren't anything like them, not even close!  Go ask the vets on the band board about when DSers would come in and take over every single thread on the band board and make fun of specific people, call their photos ugly, tell people how f'en old they are, f'en ugly, tell them they will all fail, they will all be fat, they are stupid for choosing a band.  They would call them ugly four letter words, and you want to suggest we are like them?

Are you seriously inferring we are like that?  If so, we have a problem.

We have a problem???? That is so cute. I don't do internet threats, especially silly ones. I didn't compare anyone to them. If you read, Frisco brought them up and. I pointed out that they're gone and for a reason. I've said a million times that this board isn't like that so calm the hell down with the internet threats. It isn't that serious.

Btw, I know all about the DSers and what they've done. My very first post on OH was going off on them because they were just outright evil to people. That was under my deleted name.

And if I do feel that people here are that way, I'll say it, but I didn't. You're taking this to a whole 'nother level on some real ****

Oh please, stop behaving like a child.  That was no threat.  It meant that as adults we might need to discuss this one in detail.

Either way... If you continue this I will make it easy for you and block you myself.  I tried to give you some slack because I know how you are feeling right now but com'on, it's getting silly.
