Old Navy Question (probably for women)

Ok in case you didn't know Old Navy runs big, I mean really big.  At my heaviest (270) I could still fit in their XXL tops and yoga pants.  Currently I'm in an XL there at 214 lbs and a size 18 jean though everywhere else I'm still a 20.  I'm looking to by a dress that will be good come the end of May beginning of June.  I had surgery at the weight of 234, I'm 20lbs down 3 weeks out and I'm looking like I'll lose another 4-5 lbs this week.  So I think my goal of being at 199 by the end of May is definitely doable.

So now here is where I need your ESP powers!  Do you think a L size would be safe or should I stick with the XL?  I usally order online, I guess I could go in a store and try it on and see how it fits but then I have to drag the kids (I homeschool so I always have them) and well I don't wanna.  So tell me what do you think?

I was in a large at that weight but my body isn't like a lot of people. My weight is mostly in my thighs. I only have B cup boobs and a small waist... so tops are never an issue, I can wear them pretty small. Do you have really big boobs? Good amount of  back fat left? Where does it seem you are losing the most right now? If you're comfortable in their XL and it almost seems like it's too big, you'll probably be fine to get the L. If the XL is very snug, I would hold off a few more weeks to see.

I have big boobies.  Tube socks really.  Currently I'm a 40 DDD.  I carry my weight in my stomach and honestly I don't seem to be losing it from anywhere.  I'm losing a crap load of weight but none of my clothes fit different at all.  I take my measurements and I've lost a bit from my thighs (which isn't where I carry any of my weight so not really helpful) and a some from my hips but my pani is getting so much bigger it makes up the difference.

Here's the dress in case the style helps.

 How tall are you?

I have that exact dress in a Medium and it fits pretty true to size (I am an 8/10), I am 5'7 and the length is perfect and it fits nicely in all the right places, very flattering!

LOL!  I think Old Navy Tops run small :)  I am a L/XL in Old Navy stuff, and can fit into M/L in most shirts at Kohls.

What is their return policy?  What I would do is buy both sizes, and return the one that fits the least, at the latest possible date :)  I have done this already at a different store, and it definitely worked to my advantage!

I carried my weight the same as you.

My experience with their wrap dresses (the one you have pictured) is that material below the tie would cling to my fat on the bottom of my stomach (the panni) and spanx were a necessity to pull these off so I only own one of these type dresses. I hate spanx so that is the reasoning. I like how the dresses flow away from my problem area, but at a profile, you could easily see that 'pudgy" roll and hang if I didn't pull on a "fat sucker" or super control top tights/hose.

Thanks.  Because of my pani I'm pretty used to my spanx so I figured that was a necessity.  I appreciate the comment though.  Maybe I should just go try it on. (sigh)

Ohhh and I just read the reviews, and I see others have the same issue with clinginess. It's jersey and in my opinion, that's not a forgiving fabric.

yeah I sew a lot (for my daughter) and it definitely clings.  But the dress I really want is too much $$!  Urgh.  It'd be nice to just be skinny and have my plastic surgery already.

I work at  Old Navy and I have found some of the clothes run small.   I would go in the store to try it on first.  But you can always order it online and if it doesnt fit you can return it in store and get the correct size as long as you invoice doesnt say mail only!  Good luck.  Hope this helps.
