Did anyone have plantar fasciitis before surgery? Did it get better after surgery?
Anyway-did anyone have this condition before surgery? And if so-did it get better once you lost your weight? I know that my weight HAS to be one of the reasons I developed it in the first place. My poor feet weren't made to carry around this much weight!
Thanks for the feedback!
My podiatrist has me wearing tennis shoes right now. He wrote a note to my employer so that I can wear them. I'm a teacher so tennis shoes are not in the dress code for us. So I went to a New Balance store and was measured for some shoes and spent $120 on them. But I'm still in agony!
Flip flops are the worst!
I had it pre op......in both heals..... was getting cortisone injections......
Very painful.... I would say it was a major reason I gained weight the last 1-2 years before WLS
It went into (knock on wood) remission from about 100lbs. down........
I still feel it only during certain sometimes..... barefoot on hardwood or concrete.......

It's better when I'm at work because I'm moving a lot and on my feet (I'm a teacher). But when I sit down and then get back up-oh man-it hurts. I guess that's why I notice it so much more at home versus at work.
I have no desire to get on my treadmill or walk at night--and I actually enjoy walking as exercise. Maybe I should get a bike. Perhaps that would be less impact on my feet.
I kinda made my own.....bought these drug store heel pads/inserts...they were jelly blue.......
I cut out the centers..... kinda like those butt donuts.......
Worked OK.......
What I learned....yes the weight was the number one problem.... wearing flip flops with zero support on my concrete studio floor was a probable cause.
I learned to always wear supportive shoes (tighter) that are comfortable while working on hard floors.
The exercise is to step on a board like a 2x4 with the balls of your feet and stretch the bottom of your feet and raise yourself up and down..... I did them....I guess it helped a little... I should really do that exercise now as a preventative measure.

Man... I know if I say this....Boom, It's gonna come back!!!!
No apparent issues..... During WL I walked 45minutes on most days....my last cortisone shots were about 2 months post op.....
Macmadame had them pre-op and has been in remission after WL and now is a Tri Athlete doing Ironman Competitions.....
