So, I have heard this question before, but dont remember what I read LOL...How do you know when your body is done losing weight? I am down 80 lbs and have had great results, so by no means would I EVER complain--but I just dont know how to tell if I should keep expecting to lose more weight? I have been stuck now for well over a week--have continued my diet and excercise and NADA!!

the closer you are to goal, the harder and slower it is to lose.  You will stop losing when you want to stop--you may only lose a few pounds a month, but you can continue.

If you keep doing what is working then you should continue to lose. I am at month 10 and 10 pounds below my goal. I am averaging 5 pounds lost a month but I am not trying to slow things. I do have long stretches -like 20 days wher I don't lose, then I gain (pms) then I have this 7-10 day stretch where I lose 5-6 pounds!

My Dr said to expect to lose steadily for 12 months. I have seen people continue to lose beyond that as well.

This is my losing pattern as well, it started the closer to just overweight I got.. and weirdly, last month was one of the biggest drops in a long time.. 10lbs. I am just staying on plan until I feel "done."

Wow Jo that is a big drop for 11m out! I am going to see where my body wants to end up and work more on toning/weights.

Totally shocked me! But the month prior was one of my lowest drops at 4lbs I think?..with a very protracted stall where I "gained" about 5lbs in 2 weeks.. so I think this was my body playing catch-up! I'm prob going to be back to my normal 5-6lbs now this mo.

Last month was also my lowest month. I also ate a few more sweets than normal and I went up and down all of March. I wonder why some people struggle to lose the last 10 but for some it's hard to stop losing.

Every person is different. Some battle those last 10-20 pounds. Others, like me, battle to get their body to cut out with the losing already and stabilize (I think I've got it now, we'll see).

Kinda depends on what you're eating, how active you are, how your metabolism is and probably a zillion other factors.

That said, the longest I ever got stuck for on the way down was 4 weeks, but I had 4 stalls of at least 2 weeks. If you got down 80 lbs and this is your first one, I think I'm jealous!

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Thanks for the advice. I know I have heard the last 10-20 lbs are the most stubborn and hardest to lose. I know my routine is pretty basic and I do the same excercises etc all the time...I  do need to change it up. I know I have thought in the past that I was done and I would continue to lose. I know my body has to adjust and get stabalized etc...so, even being at 155, I know theres more to lose. Thanks everyone!
