Too Few Carbs?

 So this is what my totals for the last 3 days roughly look like:



Cal Carb Fat Protein 
Totals:     566 11 25 70


So my question is: Is there such thing as too few carbs?  This is with 3 meals and one snack.  I can do another snack which could bring up the calories by about 100 and the carbs up but 10 and the protein up by 7-10.  I don't feel hungry so it's really hard to judge!

Numbers look perfect to me, with all your water and a bit of exercise you can do this. There is no need to add another snack if you are not hungry. I would only do a snack if you needed it otherwise some have done quite well with the 3 meals only per day.

If you FEEL good, then I think it's fine.  If you are exercising heavily and/or feeling weird, might be good to hit 600 calories and up the protein a bit.

 I've actually started to feel great the last few days.  But today on the treadmill at 30 min. I just died. . . Don't know if it's because I exercised before breakfast which I usually don't do.  I'm trying to do 45-60 min. of exercise a day which burns roughly 350-400 calories, so not too intense yet.  I have my first 5k in a few weeks, then I'm hoping to do a 10k before my 10miler in October!

Unless your hypoglycemic, theres no such thing as too few carbs.  Those numbers look spoty on to me.  One thing to keep in mind, there are a certain number of calories in your multivitamins and supplements.  I try to keep my food calories at no more than 530 for the day.  My multivitamin gives me 5 calories and I get another 65 from the bariatric advantage calcium chewy bites.

 That's a good point I get an extra 40 cal from all my vits and an extra 8g of carbs.

Your body eventually adapts to burning ketone bodies for fuel.. that adaptation can take a couple weeks, but it happens. I run fine on a very low carb diet, and prefer meat & veg & cheese... so I've suffered no ill effects. Yesterday I had 17g total, and I walked on the treadmill at a fast clip and high, high incline (trying to build the butt!!) for 30 mins, then lifted for 30 mins, then later scrubbed walls in a nasty rehab house for 2 hrs! I hit the trails and hike for hours with the same levels.. Personal choice, but no I don't think there's such a thing as "too little" based on my own experience and from what I've read over the years about it..
