Getting Sleeved Friday & I have silly questions.
In no particular order:
What did you wear home from the hospital? I'm assuming anything like jeans that has a button waist is a problem, since my tummy will be sore? Yoga pants and a big T-shirt
What did you wish you had taken with you that you didn't even think of until you wanted it? No but I'm really happy I remember the chapstick. My lips were like sand paper
How woozy were you at the hospital afterward? Able to read, listen to iPod, or just totally in a haze? I probably could have on day 2 but still sleeping, walking, peeing to much to actually do much but gaze at the TV.
Once you were home, how much time did you spend in bed? How much time were you supposed to spend in bed? I was in the hospital for 2 nights 3 days. Day 4 I was starting to be able to get around better but other than making sure I walked every hour, I was pretty sedentary.
Did you need help getting in and out of bed? I couldn't sleep in my bed until the end of week 2. I slept in the recliner.
What questions am I forgetting to ask?

What did you wear home from the hospital? I'm assuming anything like jeans that has a button waist is a problem, since my tummy will be sore? I wore yoga pants, sports bra and a long sleeve t-shirt to the hospital and home again. I did bring my own underwear and pair of yoga pants to slip on after surgery so my butt wasn't hanging out when I was walking. Be mindful of what bra you bring, underwires are generally not real comfortable for a while. All surgeons do different incisions, but I had one just below my sternum and a sports bra or no bra was the best.
What did you wish you had taken with you that you didn't even think of until you wanted it? Nothing, I used my cell phone, underwear, yoga pants and chapstick. I was only in the hospital for 24 hours from check in to discharge.
How woozy were you at the hospital afterward? Able to read, listen to iPod, or just totally in a haze? I checked in for surgery at 10am and was discharged the next day by 10am. I packed magazines, mp3 player and my laptop. I didn't touch any of it. My surgery was at noon, I was in my room by 2pm and I dozed until 9pm. At 9 I woke up enough to tell my husband to go home and get some sleep. From 9pm until I was discharged the next morning I got out of bed every 3 hours when they would come to do my vitals. I'd let them do their thing, then have them unhook me. I'd pee, walk a lap around that floor of the hospital, sit in bed for a minute and sip water, check my phone then fall asleep until the next 3 hour check.
Once you were home, how much time did you spend in bed? How much time were you supposed to spend in bed? Didn't spend any time in bed other than at night, just rested on the couch. I wasn't given any stipulations on how long to be in bed, just to rest and walk. I'd walk a lap around our complex every morning and every afternoon and just rest in between. I had no trouble going up and down the stairs on my own either, just took is slowly and rested when I need to. Just listen to your body, it'll tell you when to slow down and when to press on. A lot of people sleep better in a recliner after surgery, this wasn't the case for me. It was more uncomfortable actually. Sleeping on my right side was the most comfortable for the first month.
Did you need help getting in and out of bed? Nope
Good luck, and keep in mind that this experience is different for everyone!

The first day was pretty much a blur but that night I did get on the laptop, I was in for 3 nights so the laptop was helpful.
Once you were home, how much time did you spend in bed? How much time were you supposed to spend in bed? Alot the first week. Even when I wasn't sleeping I felt drained and very tired.
Did you need help getting in and out of bed?It hurt but I could get out of bed, well the couch actually. My bed was too uncomfortable to sleep in.

I wore jeans home from the hospital, they were just loose jeans. When I finally stopped hitting that morphine button I was just fine. I walked a lot in the hospital and that helped get rid of the gas a lot quicker. Once I got home I rested off and on with my recliner but I didn't stay in bed. No time for that lol. I only took one pain pill once at home and I've been fine ever since. I also notice that I get cold real easy now and I've always been a real hot blooded person. Since my stay was just one night, and I left by one the next afternoon, I didn't find that I forgot anything. Good luck to you!!!
