Time to Confess

Caffeine and candy are my bad habits. I have at least a venti iced coffee every day (on a long day maybe 3 - yikes). There is so much candy all over the office that I usually have at least a piece a day. I'm trying to stop that habit now before surgery.

My two were Diet Coke and evening snacking.
I had a four+ 20oz bottle a day Diet Coke habit. I gave it up after seminar on January 20, 2011 when they told us it was a no-no after surgery, because I wanted to see if I could do it. Had bad caffeine withdrawal but haven't had a soda of any kind in 15 months and no longer miss it.
I've made peace with the evening snacking issue. It's too habitual and hard to give up completely so what I've done is eliminate unplanned evening eating (I would snack and graze all evening), but include a small, portion-controlled healthy snack in my evening. During loss I'd have half a can of Power Pak protein pudding or something similar. Now I have a measured portion of some exotic nutbutters I've gotten hooked on.

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
I tend to eat too much especially when stressed out. A new neighbor moved in a month ago, with a dog who barks and barks for more than 15 mins at aw time. I have eaten sugar in cakes and pies. Diet coke, and coffee. I have cut out sugar, sweets, and carbs. I know I need to reduce the 12 lbs i have gained. I am trying to eat mostly protein. Sometimes, my blood sugar drops low, and I have to eat fruit and my baked pita chips. I have my 2 year check up meeting on Sept, so I have to stop my bad habits now.............Thanks.

Smoking!!!!! I have not had a smoke since the day before surgery and I have had no sodas! I would drink one diet soda a day. I would think my sleeve could handle it now because nothing has bothered me, so therefore I won't have one, cause I don't want to know if it would bother me or not. If it didn't I know I would start a mental thing of "well, it won't hurt to have one", same as my smokes!
Mines is diet coke. I have changed to caffeine free. I don't have one every day and now a 12 pack last over a month. I use to go thru almost 2 12 packs a wk. I drink a lot of water and crystal light.
I use to indulge in sweets everyday and now I don't. I try very hard to stay away or if I get tht urge I have a no sugar fudge pop tht is only 40 calories or a fruit cup.

Late night snacking. I did a bit of a binge last night though.
I didn't have a problem giving up caffeine and pop since I slowly eliminated those through the years even before surgery was an option. I gave up caffeine completely in 2007 and stuck to clear pops, but then I moved home from college and I got really tired of carrying all of these cases of pop up the stairs to my bedroom, so I just kind of stopped buying it. I would buy it at wor****asionally but then I got serious about the surgery and haven't had any lately (except for the one can of Diet Dr. Pepper I had the other day). I have never had coffee, never been to a Starbucks, so I don't have a problem there.
