You might dropping the carby items which take up room you need to get protein in.  Maybe swap the oatmeal for some eggs.  And the refried beans for some tuna.  Greek yogurt is also good.  Canned chicken made into chicken salad is yummy.

Just an observation to spring board off your comment.

Ms. Poker Face, thanks so much for the suggestions. I tried eggs yesterday and it didn't go well at all. Ended up seeing it again and had my first case of 'foamies'.

The refried beans yielded the similar results today.

I am scared to try tuna or chicken.... I am afraid it would get caught. Am I being too cautious? The NUT said I could start them but I am not sure how it would go given that the eggs and beans didn't sit well in my tummy.

Thanks for the feedback!

Nope, not being too cautious.  Just because the doc clears us for the next stage doesn't mean we're ready.  I had to extend my liquids phase and my mushies phase because my tummy just wasn't ready to advance as fast as my doc thought it was.

Keep doing the shakes... as you try new foods, make sure they are super soft and very liquidy.  The first scrambled egg I made, I added lots of extra milk and then I blenderized it.  Same with chicken salad and tuna salad... be sure to add lots of liquids including milk, water or broth even if that sounds icky... the smoothness and runniness will be worth it!!

Hang in there.
