I got sleeved there last Friday.  This won't be a comprehensive report, but a general comment and an "Oh wait, really?" moment.

The general comment--I couldn't have asked for more welcoming, professional, knowledgeable staff.  Seriously. And I left there with a contact number for any post-surgical questions I might have, which I've used three times with immediate answers and followups.  I couldn't be happier.

My "moment" was when, Friday afternoon, they brought me a tray with clear liquids.  Evidently the standard at Baylor is to rely on the operating room tests for leaks unless there is some other reason to follow up with an Upper GI leak test later, so most patients never have it.

It worked great for me so I won't complain, but that just goes to show you, every doctor is different, every hospital is different.  And Baylor has been a Center for Excellence for years and years.

That sounds really great! I was craving water so badly the first couple days!

I haven't had any chicken broth yet! Ugh I've been waiting like 2 hours for my paperwork to leave.

And did  you pee blue in the hospital?  Since they did the leak test during surgery, I didn't see the blue fluid going in and it was a big surprise when it came out!

I didn't see any blue in my pot where they were measuring my output.  I'm not sure they did the same leak test in surgery that they would have done with me awake, but who knows?

I was sleeved at Baylor on the 12th and I had an upper GI leak test the next day.  It must be my surgeon's preference.  But, I assume you had your visit with Sandy ... isn't she AWESOME?!?

Your doc and mine are in the same office!

Sandy is wonderful. She has answered my questions and just been great. I am going to try to start going to the support meetings.  I have a list here somewhere...

I'd love for you to share the list of support groups with me. Maybe I'll meet you at one!

Baylor Dallas is awesome. My mom has been in and out of there more times than I can count over the years and with the rare exception of a random not so nice nurse, everyone there has been beyond wonderful.  Glad you had a good experience there too!
