Warm liquids are my new best friend
I have posted a couple times in the last day or so about my struggles since being home. I discovered today that warm liquids are seriously my new best friend. Herbal tea, warm broth, even just warm water are going down so much easier than cold. I also can not tolerate anything remotely sweet right now, even the liquid Tylenol is making me gag. But with the warm liquids I have been able to get in about 24 oz in the last few hours... huge improvement!
I am still in a lot of pain, more than is normal I think. I have talked with the doc's office a couple times, (also having awful diarrhea, sorry TMI) and they just want me to try and get off the pain meds. Soo the next couple days will probably be pretty painful, but I just hope everyday gets better! Thanks for all the OH support, I just can't wait to feel "normal" again

Warm worked for me too. Im glad your getting the fluid down! Yeah! It gets better.fast...the morphine didnt even work too well for me in the hospital. They gave me something stronger..but after a few days I was ok and off the pain meds. I was surprised how much better I felt everyday.
I don't have an MD but I've always heard and my docs said to use the pain meds so your body can relax and heal.Of course you should follow your docs advice but I hate that you are hurting. Can understand not using the pain meds with sleeping pills but I've never heard of a doc prescribing pain meds after major surgery then telling the patient not to take them.
Boo!
Hope you turn the corner real soon, sweetie!

Diarrhea is totally normal. It was alarming for me also because I felt like I was clearing things out as soon as I was getting them in.
I take sleeping meds also. I waited until I was done taking pain meds to start my sleeping meds again. I actually tried to fall asleep on my own for 2 days thinking I would easily fall asleep due to exhaustion but that didn't happen.
I don't know why everyone is giving you conflicting info at your doctor's office but if you're in pain, take pain meds. You need to feel better. If you are in pain, you won't walk, etc.
