Your recovery story from being super morbidly obese is one of the most inspiring I've ever read.  You are a truly amazing woman!

You lost 385 lbs??? With the VSG? Suddenly my silly worrying about my dream to lose 85 lbs seems so ridiculous. Wow!!! I am truly speachless.

Yep, moderation didn't work for me because I never found it. That's why maintenance scares me so much. I don't know how to do moderation because my definition of it is so skewed, I guess.

From experience, even with VSG, moderation did not work for me in the weight loss phase. In the first 6 months, I didn't really pu**** - glad I didn't. Got to 6 and 8 months, started moderating, stalled me and I had to reign it back in. Lesson learned quickly and back on track. ANd now in maintenance the real work starts... it's hard to know what's what!

I think moderation may work for many because of the restriction, and when and how they use it is there business because it's their journey. Don't judge, encourage.

Btw, moderation in these terms is not my rule how ever I try very small amounts of most foods.

Moderation scares me too.  I am a compulsive overeater - sometimes it's been in better control than at other times, but it is always, always lurking and ready to pounce.  I am not trying to be holier than thou, believe me.  It's unadultered fear that has, so far, kept me from eating certain foods.  I'm so afraid of opening that door and then not being able to shut it again or fast enough.  Kudos to those who can eat certain things and be satisfied with a bite or two.  I know you are out there too.  I could probably do the same - for awhile.  But then those foods would be calling my name, getting louder and more frequent, and I'd again be obsessing and rationalizing why I could do it just this one.  I can't go back there.
