1 week out: The Good, the Bad and the UGLY! (no pics)

The good is? Lost ten pounds this week, am having no trouble getting shakes and such down, probably need to work harder on the water.

The bad is? About 48 hours ago, my incisions all decided to revolt against the adhesive or whatever they cleansed the area with--anyway, are now red, rashy, and itching like the dickens.  On doc's orders I'm downing Benadryl and using cortizone cream, and hoping it dies down soon.

The ugly?  OMG, you do now want to see what my stomach looks like--there is no drainage, no fever, no sign of infection, but boy is this ugly! LOL

YAY for the 10 lbs.! That's great news. Congraulations!

Boo on the itchiness...I feel ya there, unfortunately. I'm really sensitive to adhesives and the tegaderm they used to cover my staples drove me NUTS. When my staples were removed this past Monday, they applied steri-strips, which are now driving me to distraction. Can't take Benadryl because it knocks me out and I'm at work so I'm just using cortisone cream and it's really not doing a whole lot of good. Ugh. Can't wait until these things fall off! (I may scratch them off in my sleep one of these nights, yikes!)

And the ugly...oh, I am so there with you, sistah. {{{{{Hugs}}}}} May be ugly now but what we're going through will be sooooo worth it.

You can do it!

I didn't have staples or steri-strips so I guess I'm lucky there.  Just now to get past this itchy horror.  ICK ICK ICK!

I hope yours goes away quickly, too!

CONGRATS TO YOU! I was sleeved in 4/26. I'm also down 10, I thought that was low but nice to know I'm on track. As for the itching, OMG I've drawn blood! My stomach is a mess! Again glad to know this is normal. Again, congrats on your progress!!

you could try Claritin- comes in liquid too- it's a nonsedating antihistamine that should help with the itching without knocking you out.

I know what your going through..I had that rash and the itch..it was horrible..i was also takin Benedryl and cream too...A ice pack wrapped in a towel helped me alot and i also slept with my shirt pulled up over the rash so the air would hit it..i hope this helps..
