Winging it at a wedding shower, also, down 30!
Yesterday I went to a wedding shower, and afterward was unexpectedly unable to return home for dinner.
At the shower they had all sorts of good things, of course. I could only guess at amounts, but guessing, I had an ounce of chicken salad and a couple of ounces of cheese (spaced out over the course of the afternoon). OMG, it all tasted SO GOOD!
For dinner I ate sliced beef brisket from a barbecue place nearby, no sauce. OMG, it tasted SO GOOD!
And when I got home and plugged it all into MFP, if my estimates were anywhere near close (and I think they were) I'd totally nailed it. I had eaten 77 grams of protein yesterday including the "winging it" portions of the day, and came in under 120 calories. Rather than pick up the last 3 grams of protein I just went with water and called it a day.
I breathed a big sigh of relief. I can make this work.
Also, I am officially down 30 pounds. Yay!
And finally--does the "OMG, EVERYTHING TASTES SO GOOD!" wear off after awhile? I'm loving it. It makes eating so satisfying!

I think food tastes better, in general, because we're eating more slowly and enjoying small portions of food, rather than just gorging ourselves (at least I used to gorge myself). I am more particular about the food choices I make, because I'm more limited; I would rather eat a small portion of something really enjoyable than something just "so-so."
Being more mindful of what I eat certainly makes a difference, rather than mindlessly eating while I read a book or surf the net.
And yes, I am picky! Sometimes I wonder if it's a new pitfall! I don't plan my meals a day ahead because I want the freedom to choose what I want in that moment--not what I decided I'd eat the night before.
But enjoying food is so wonderful!

First of all CONGRATS for staying on plan when I am sure you were surrounded by all kinds of goodies. You should be VERY proud of that.
And I agree with everyone else. Now that I'm eating real food, everything tastes amazing! I often find myself looking at my pitiful quarter-cup serving of something and thinking this is SOOO good, and I wish I could have more...then realizing that I'm full after just a few bties!

I know what you mean! Sugar-y things just don't taste as good post-sleeve. Last week, I was craving chocolate for a few days, so to quiet the craving I had a small bite of my bf's choc bar. It was meh...and it made me feel sick. I haven't craved chocolate since! I loooooooooove my tastebuds post-sleeve!
