WOW! Never seen one of those! I have taken an interest in finding stuff like this locally, just made some wild dandelion jelly and it's pretty good. Tastes a lot like honey.

I blame my paternal granfather for this! I got this book from him as a kid, and between hunting wild food and rock-hounding, I was a tom-boy, oh.. until just recently.. started wearing dresses. *Gasp!*

Thank you. We have them all over base and I knew they weren't blackberries because they are on a tree! I know blackberries don't grow on trees. Now we know, and my kids will be thrilled that I found the answer (ok I didn't really do it but I'm taking the credit).

It is a Blackberry: genus of the Rosaceae family. It's not a "true berry", but an "aggregate fruit" composed of small drupelets. Loaded with antioxidants. If you like smoothies, they're great with strawberries and blueberries. Lucky you have a tree, they cost $2.99 a half pint.......
