so much for plastics. I'm pregnant!!!

I'm 18 months post-op and was hoping to have a TT and arm lift sometime in the near future.  Plans have changed because after three tests yesterday I can't deny it......I'm preggers!!  This will be blessing #6 for our family (yes, we're crazy).

I'm still not where I want to be as far as body fat %.  I've been exercising like crazy @7 hours/wk and don't want to stop.  I really love the cardio kickboxing class but we workout to exhaustion which can't be good for the baby.

I see my bariatric team tomorrow and the midwife in two weeks to get some answers.  I have no idea how to eat for a pregnancy (can you say "increase those carbs, mam").  I'm so afraid of gaining too much.  I'm really hoping those with experience/advise will chime in....

Hugs to you all,
Jennifer

Congrats!

I don't know much about how to eat for a postop pregnancy, but wanting to be pregnant was one of the main reasons I had the sleeve to begin with, so I'm giddy for you right about now.

I am a high risk labor and delivery RN, while I cannot tell you what the guidelines are in pregnancy, I can tell you that there are many wonderful and successful pregnancies after WLS and the babies do just fine. Good luck and congrats!

Congrats! One of the reasons I did the sleeve is to hopefully cure the PCOS and get preggo.
You should message USAFWife on here, she has experience times two post-sleeve.

Thanks, Solstyce.  I hope you have much success with future pregnancies.  Yes, I'm hoping Tiffany aka USAFWife reads this thread.

There's no reason to go batpoop crazy with carbs or even calories. You can even continue to moderately workout, probably not as extensively as you have been, but working out through pregnancy is highly encouraged.

My guidelines were simple add 200-300 calories over my maintenance calories, 100gr of protein 100gr of carbs, and 80-100oz of clear fluids.

I'm 20 weeks 5 days into my 2nd post-vsg pregnancy. I gained 35lbs with my last pregnancy and dropped 25lbs within 4-5 weeks of delivery. I allowed the holidays to slip by, wasn't worrying about getting back on plan, and working out, and then low and behold, just 2.5 months after delivery, I was pregnant again! So, yep, I'll be delivering this baby just 2-3 weeks before my daughters 1st birthday, you wanna talk about crazy, I think I've got you beat ! ! !

You can toss a banana, orange, apple or other fruit into your day for your carbs, no need to pop protein drinks. A good quality vitamin, I stay on my Celebrate multi with iron. I made the mistake of going off of them and least to say, I was on a RX prenatal that gave me ALL day, every meal sickness, NOT fun. Went off of them, tried a Centrum Complete, and again nausea. So, I'm back on my normal Celebrate multi with iron, and my high risk ob approved them last pregnancy and this pregnancy.

I'm high risk for other issues than VSG. In no way, shape, form or fashion did or will VSG complicate my pregnancies.

Best wishes, and if you have any questions, you can message me here, you can click the link for my "latest posts" and skim through my old posts for my pregnancy updates.

Let me be really honest, the physical changes and weight gain were the most difficult aspect of my 1st pregnancy, this time I could give 2 poops because I'm miserable this time. I've already gained 14-15lbs, and my high risk ob is looking at putting me on prednisone again, but I might have to start earlier so he told me to expect a higher amount of gain because of the steroids.

Best wishes and congratulations! ! !

We're y'all preventing with hormonal BC or natural family planning methods? We were preventing with barrier methods so I'm always interested to find out what happened when it's unexpected. If it's too personal, I understand.
