Another question

I wondering if any of you can help me. I have BCBS of Illinois and Medicare. From what I understand neither of them cover the sleeve. What I want to know is what type of information would I need to give them when I appeal it?I'm determined to get this done after my band is removed I do not want the RNY or another band put in. I have had so many problems with my band that I do not want another one and as far as RNY from everything I have read about it it definitely scares me.It may be a good fit for others but not me. So for those that have appealed and won can you please give me some advice on what I would need. Thank you for taking the time to answer

It really depends on what your policy says.  I'm going through the same thing with BC/BS of IL.  Mine considers it cosmetic surgery.  My husband called (it's through his job) and they said no way, no how.  I called back a couple of days later and they said no, but to appeal it.  I went to my first appointment and the insurance person in the office called and they said as long as they could prove I needed it, they would cover it.  I had to go ahead and do all the testing that was needed and they have now sent it all in to the insurance.  I'm hoping to hear something soon.  Talk to your doctor.  They can usually work wonders with the insurance companies.
