VSG and a hernia

Anyone have a hernia repaired when you got your sleeve done ? I read one post saying how awfull the pain was and now am worried about it. The post was on another site.

I am having the VSG and a hernia repair as well............ I was told there is no "extra" pain. It is going to depend on your Dr's pain management!

I had a hiatal hernia repair along with my sleeve. Of course, I will never know if the pain was any worse than it would have been without the hernia repair, but in comparison to what I read about other people's experiences that did not have the hernia repair, my experience seems about the same.  My soreness was mostly in my lower right abdomen.  I had to stay a third night in the hospital because I became nauseated, but as far as I know, the hernia repair didn't make my experience worse. I had no pain in the area where my hernia would have been which is in the upper abdomen.  So, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.  I was unaware that I had the hernia preop.

VSG 4-2-12

I had a hernia repair with my VSG and did not experience any extreme pain or discomfort. I was on a morphine pump for about six hours and couldn't handle the nausea. After that I was on Tylenol with no problem. My doctor did warn me that I might have shoulder pain, which I did but it was not bad at all. This surgery was a breeze compared to my rotator cuff repair in 2009.
