Carb cycling
My surgeon does not believe in the wig wag method.........
Consistency tends to beat wig waging...... problem with wig waging.....is you end up wigging when you should be wagging......
I never did it..... kept my carbs at 40grams or below and lost 190lbs. in 13 months.
In maintenance now I use 80grams a day as a baseline.
Most overweight people tend to be carb/sugar sensitive..... carbs and sugar can also stimulate hunger.
The key is to get on the best known WL plan for the VSG and lose the weight...... It's simple really....don't over think it.....learn as you go keeping yourself on plan.
Stalls happen.....just trudge through it...... And don't get stalls confused with eating to much......
Get to goal weight...... than in maintenance you can get experimental to define your tolerances.
Soooooo many people get sucked into lots of "Alternative" miss information here on OH and end up having a more difficult time than necessary.
I used to say follow your doctors plan....... don't say it anymore cause there are some VERY WONKY plans out there.........

Carb cycling is a behavior thing. It justifies eating more food a couple days a week then restricting.
Mentally, I wasn't willing to deal with it. Consistency, constant effort, tracking food intake and knowing that if I put in the effort, I would lose weight.
For me carb cycling, 5 days low carb, 2 days eat whatever you want, those 2 days become the 5 days and so forth then what happens. Back to dieting, back to beating myself up because of a gain. And, a "towel thrown in" mentality takes over.
It reminds me of all the "Woman's World" article headlines of "I Lost 15lbs in 10 DAYS eating whatever I want diet". They neglect to print that those 15 pounds came right back within 3 months.

Just what I've witnessed over my years is that when someone does the cycling thing, a stall might break with a loss, and then comes the hell of getting back on track trying to not only control carb intake but calorie intake as well. It's a slippery slope for me. I'm not saying to not do it, but if you have issues pulling back in the reins, just recognize it before it gets out of hand and you're back to being upset because you're at 1000 calories, 100grams of carbs and can't seem to kic those last 15-30 pounds.
Ive seen plenty of stall busters. Consistently, the loss is a few pounds and then BAM another stall and once you go up on intake, it's hell to go back down.
My own personal experience was with my last pregnancy. I was eating 1700-1800 calories a day, dropped the first 25 of the 35 I gained. Trying to get those last 10 pounds off, I had to get back down to 900 calories, less than 50grams of carbs. I can tell you that not only wasn't hard, it was mentally draining and I wanted to throat punch my husband more times than I care to count the first week. Grant it, I was already pregnant again and didn't know it, but I was totally pissed off trying to get my structure back.
