Aria scale and how I don't obsess over the scale anymore

So about a month ago I bought a Fitbit and Aria scale.  It was pricey for gadgets in my opinion, but I really like both of them.  Initially, I was concerned that I would completely obsess over the scale and indeed I now weigh twice per day.  I was/am curious about the weight fluctuation from morning to night and in a monthly cycle.

What I am surprised about is how much less I now obsess over every lost or gained ounce in comparison to where  I was before this scale.  There is just something about knowing that it is automatically tracking to the website that makes it so I check trends every so often when I feel like it, instead of obsessing about it every day.  For me, that is worth the price of the scale.

Anyway, if you are looking for a scale and you don't mind paying a little extra you may want to look into it.  This model hooks into your wifi and uploads to the fitbit.com website. It does kick out a body fat percentage, but I don't know enough about that to comment if it is reliable or not, other than the numbers are fairly consistent. The fitbit also automatically uploads to the site as well.  (Fitbit tracks activity- steps per day, stairs climbed, overal activity levels and calculates burned calories.)

Just thought I would share if anyone was curious.  Have a super day :0)

I considered an Aria scale and may get one when I am in maintenance.  I have an article I wrote about body composition and Body fat percentage scales on my blog that you may find interesting.

Just read it - very informative!  My bariatric team has  the one scan as part of the pre-testing, but I elected to skip it due to the cancer and radiation issues.  I do wish I knew what my lean body mass was, or at least I think I want to know ;)  For now, the scale is just fine on that, as I am not sure even if it was 100% accurate what I would do with the information.

Are you an engineer?

Yep.  Instead of the scan you can have a hydrostatic body composition test.  No X-Rays there and its VERY accurate.

On the scale, you would just be looking for the trend - is it constant, going up, or going down.

The scale is less accurate for men because we carry most of our fat in our abdomens, and a scale like the Aria would not measure that.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I will try to remember to ask about it next appointment at the center. :)
