The abdomen really is the last place you lose - NSV

Yesterday while I was on my run I noticed my Heart Rate monitor giving wonky readings (unless my heart rate really was 48 running up an 80 ft tall hill, im not that fit).  It was time to adjust the chest strap again.  That makes twice in 3 weeks.

This morning I woke up 12 lbs from goal.  HEEELLLLL YEAH!  Anyway, I also noticed as I was getting dressed that my size 36 pants are loose around the waist, not falling off loose but saggs down on the hips and need to be belted.

This seems to have happened more and more.

Another 2.1 lbs to Normal BMI!

Way to go Rob!!!!!  What a great feeling it must be to be so close!  I am 2.3 lbs. from my original goal, though I plan to reset that goal when I finally reach it.  It seems to be taking forever!!!  I started logging on MyFitnessPal today, as I'm pretty sure my calorie intake has been increasing a bit.  I need to stay honest if I want to keep moving forward.

This is actually my 2nd revision to goal!  Initially I used the insurance chart weight that was just WAY too low (171).  My surgeon gave me a goal of 200 (Blew that away on Monday) and I am aiming for 185.

Good job on starting the logging.  That is probably my best tool for managing my weight loss so far.  I am such and engineer, LOL, I honestly believe that if I can measure it, I can control it.  Thats definitely true for whats going on in my food.

I hear you!  The goal on my ticker was set based on my fat to lean ratio, but it is still in the obese range of BMI!  I spoke with the NUT and surgeon at my 6 month check up back in Feb. and they thought 15-30 lbs less is reasonable.  Even with 30 more lbs, I'll be in the lower end of the moderately overweight range of BMI.  I have a very large frame and my fat % is already in the normal range for my age, though at the higher end of it, so there's definitely room to go down further.  I will reset the goal for 15 lbs. and re-assess at that time.  I just want to see 'Goal Reached' on my ticker before I reset it.  Is that silly or what!

Yeah, except if you have ovaries...  Women-folk of child-bearing age tend to have more long-term storage fat which amasses in the hips and and upper thighs than men. That's a result of estrogen.  It's not until menopause that the belly-fat starts to predominate.   That long-term fat is a ***** to lose.  I'm at 21% body-fat, normal BMI, and I have saddle bags but almost no fat from the hips up.

The higher your estrogen level, the more weigh you carry lower.  "Child-bearing" hips are actually an indication of higher estrogen levels which are associated with higher fertility.  The "beauty" preference men in almost every culture have for pear shapes or hour glass figures is thought to stem from the association going back to ancient times.

Congrats on your loss! You'll be there soon.

Isn't that the truth?  I have lost the most in my stomach.  But my thighs and hips?  Yeah, not so much. I KNOW that will be the last place I lose.  Sigh...

When I first started taking measurements at 270lbs, they were 50-45-60.  Now I'm 35-25-35.  I've lost  44% of the circumference of my waist but only 41% of my hips.  Having said that, my waist measurement has been the same since November, but I continued to lose from my hips/thighs, if slowly.   While It may seem I didn't lose as much on top, i didn't have a lot to start with and I'm now an official member of the boobless tribe.

Maybe it's because I have PCOS, but this isn't true for me.  My belly is definitely going to be the last place I lose.  It's quite frustrating, because most pants are huge on my legs and hips, but tight in the waist.
