OT: Say Yes to the Dress/BIG
I was surfing by and this show snagged my attention with a large bride who (according to the bridal shop) had gained 6 inches around her waist in the year since she was first measured. She insisted that she hadn't gained any weight, and the proof was that she was wearing the same clothes she'd worn the year before.
In the larger sizes is it perhaps possible to gain that much without changing sizes? I know that as we get smaller the sizes change more often.
She ended up a beautiful bride in the dress--after they added some pretty detail and a panel to the back.

Thanks for posting this! I have lost 43 pounds and have not gone down on size. Yes, my cloths are very loose on me and they were very tight before, but when I go to the store to try on 16's, I'm just not ready for them yet! I was downing myself cause I didn't understand how I coulee loose 43 pounds and be in the same clothes!! Glad Im not the only one!
I felt the same way at first. I went and tried on a couple of tops at Coldwater Creek and they were clingy and tight and looked awful, emphasizing all my bulges. I wasn't going to buy bigger ones, and I left without buying any.
However once I bought some pants that fit (instead of my old jeans that I was still wearing, but were now loose) the tops looked different. (Not the same ones--I haven't been back to Coldwater Creek.) I bought a t-shirt at Target in a color that goes with a jacket I had left over from last time I was in XLs, and with the pants that fit, it looked great. Tighter than I'm used to, but good.
I can still wear a lot of my baggy 2X stuff, but went ahead and ditched most of it, and the 1X, too. If I can wear XL and look better in it, why hold on to the baggy stuff?
When I drop out of the XLs I'm in trouble because I don't have anything smaller. I just ordered a pair of jeans from Eddie Bauer yesterday in 14s because they were $25. I have no idea when I'll be able to fit into them--I went online looking for some 16s, hoping I could fit into them. It's hard to say because my baggy 18s may be baggy because they're stretched out, and new 18s might fit.
It's confusing!!! But I guess my point is, don't give up because of one experience. You will feel so much better if you get into clothes that fit and flatter you, instead of being baggy.

My experience going down from 235 is that I can still wear the same shirts and even jeans I wore 45 pounds ago. They are loose, but I can wear them. They are stretch jeans and I think I stretched them to the limit while avoiding going into a larger size.
BUT when I wear clothes that fit I look and feel so much better. I had to buy a few things to go to my son's wedding and events/showers, etc. And I think it's well worth the expense, even though I won't wear them long.

I think I did the same thing to my jeans..... Im still pre-op so we shall see how it goes for me soon I hope...
I saw some bigger girls on Bridezillas that made me shudder... one chick who just flat refused to go to a bigger size and almost didnt have a dress to wear on her wedding date...she thought the seamstress could simply let it out a bit... ughhh
