I am 17 days post op and have entered the soft foods phase where I can have chicken, turkey, fish. Tomorrow is Hubby's BD and I wonder if we go out to eat could I handle something like a grilled shrimp app? I've eaten some canned chicken and a couple slices of turkey sandwich meat. Think I will do ok?

Grilled shrimp can be hard to handle for some post-ops early out.  My recommendation would be to try new foods at home rather than in public.  :-)

To be safe, I'd order the softest item on the menu, perhaps a nice flaky fish?

I did fine with shrimp from the get go but I've had a pretty easy time with all new foods.  I like to order cheese enchiladas when I'm out with friends and just eat the inside of it along with some refried beans.  Good luck!

Shrimp was one of the most agreeable foods for me and very high in protein!!

Thanks, seems it is an individual thing. I'm leaning more toward grilled or broiled fish now.

try whatever you want but go very, very slowly.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Personally, shrimp was not included in my soft foods phase because it's not very soft. I would also try going with a nice, flaky, fish, as long as it's something you've tried at home.

ABSOLUTELY!! Why not as long as ya chew chew chew the crap outta it. We're supposed to chew each bite to a count of 20 anyway...to slow us down...give food a jump start in digestion .

The thing with shrimp its a slider for me. but so is baked soft fish....I can eat alot of it and them calories add up not down :-(

HAVE A GREAT TIME!! Tell DH   for us on his day!!
