5 Days Post Op

Today is my fifth day postop and I am finally starting to feel like myself again. Day 1 and 2 in the hospital was pretty easy peasy, thank goodness for my lil morphine button. I didn't really take any fluids they gave me in the hospital, I got what I needed from the Iv. They tried giving me diet Snapples and chicken broths and they just made me gag, ewww. On the 3rd day, they took me off the morphine and started giving me liquid lortab, and that's what I have been taking days 3 and 4 for the pain, but it has been making me nauseous. I am soo glad they gave me zofran for everytime I was nauseous these last 2 days. My tastebuds have changed and I have not been hungry since surgery day, but I have been drinking enough water and protein shakes. I just had some plain fage 0% yogurt with some Walden farms sugar free strawberry syrup, not to bad. My hubby is going to bring me some miso soup in a bit, hopefully I still like that. I feel sooo much better today, especially since I am not taking the lortab and no longer feeling as sore. It feels good and weird to not want or crave any food for the past 5 days

Congrats on your surgery and glad to hear you are on the mend after only five days.  That's very encouraging.  I'm going in on Monday 7/9/12 and feeling very nervous about the afterward.  Thanks for sharing and continued good health.

Thank you. I hear that the first week is the hardest and after that not too bad. Good luck on your surgery. I am sure you will be just fine. Wishing you the best

Gabby,  I am glad you are doing so well.  Isn't it wonderful to have
the surgery over with, and moving on?  Your husband is a really
nice guy, and he seems to take good care of you. Keep on sipping
and get those fluids you need.  I am always thinking of you and wish
you a speedy recovery.

Hi Gabby!

I'm very happy for you -- so glad you're having a relatively easy time of it.  Isn't it great?  I'm stunned at how well this has gone.........I hope it continues to be that way for both of us!

Wonderful to know you have good support at home.  That has to make things lots easier.

Best of Luck!
