1. When did you feel comfortable enough to go to the gym using all the fitness equipment & taking classes like zumba? ( I was given the green light for 3 Weeks post op, but my hubby says no, that I should just heal first and use our treadmill in the mean time, I am soo excited and anxious to start working out)

2. Has anyone experienced something similar at two Weeks post op? So, I have been doing really good lately, today I walked more than usual and when I got home I started going a lil sharp pain on the right around my biggest incision area, I hadn't been using pain meds since a week out and was doing fine without them, but I had to use them a little while ago.

3. At how far out did you start enjoying amusement parks again?

Thank you Gabbz

First of all, congrats!

I still don't feel comfortable with classes like Zumba because I'm a total klutz!  I would check with your surgeon because you want to verify what you got a "green light" for.  My surgeon was good with walking but not any kind of weight lifting or strenuous exercise for 6 weeks.  Remember, you did just have a major surgery!

I had the same problem with tenderness around my largest incision for quite awhile after surgery.  Nothing excruciating but it would surely let me know if I'd done a little too much.  I would just take it easy for a day or two then go a little slower next time (that was just me, though).  However, mine wasn't bad enough where I felt I needed pain meds so again, might want to check with your surgeon.

I was sleeved in January and live in Michigan, so there was no opportunity for amusement parks :)  I hate to sound like a broken record but you should clear things with your surgeon, especially at first.  When we feel so good, so soon, it's easy to forget that we did just have a major operation done.  My motto is better safe then sorry.  And don't worry, whatever you ask is not stupid and you won't be the first patient to ask it!

Good luck with your journey :)

Thank you He told me 3 weeks, but I can just wait to ask him to make sure again at my one month appointment. My lil sharp pain was about a 2 on pain level, and I didnt have regular Tylenol, so my hubby just wanted.me to take the pain meds so I could sleepsleep comfortable at night, I just want to see if it pretty normal for most people on here for two weeks out, if it becomes more current and severe, I will call my surgeon and let him know. The amusement parks, i just have 2 annual passes that expire soon, but i can just take my boys and stay on the sidelines for awhile, and ask my doc of course. Thank you so much

Hey gab!

I got the 6 weeks out rule too...btw...are you itching yet around your incisions? I keep watching mine...no infection just a little redness around each one and ITCHING LIKE NUTSO!!!

Right now I'm best friends with Cortaid and that works but last night I had to even take a Benadryl because it was just too much.

Sorry...don't mean to hijack the thread but I know we're sleeve buddies so I wondered if you were feeling the same.

Hello, Sleeve buddy No, I have not had any itching at all, do you think maybe the glue they use is irritating you?

It could be but the funny thing is that it doesn't bother me until nighttime...that's when I turn into a TEEN ITCH WOLF! GRRRR!

But I am hoping it's just healing...if it gets worse I'm definetely going to put in a call to my surgeon or my PCP.
