Suregery on Monday and the Dr's office just called to let me know that my potassium was off during pre-op. So they are calling me in some potassium pills to take until Monday. Has anyone had this happen?????

Yep -from lasix (water pills) which causes the potassium levels to drop. Post surgery have to have liquid potassium .  Was told you can't crush potassium pills.  :-)

For two days after my surgery (last year) my potassium was very low - taking the pills then was almost impossible so they tried the "orange" crap which I couldn't get down either.  So - they broke open a capsule and I swirled the little beads real fast in the tiny cup of apple juice and slurped it down before they could settle in the bottom..
What I'm saying is TAKE THE PILLS pre-op so you don't have this same problem POST op when it's even more difficult to get the levels up!
