HOW's ALCOHOL BEEN TREATIN YA??
I don't like confessing this but I will. I've had a few nights a couple weeks ago where I had 2 flavored vodka shots and I've gotten really buzzed off of them & I mean buzzed like the room spinning. Thank gawd I wasn't driving because I was in no condition to. I kinda liked it and like USAFwife, it helped me relax after a couple stressful situations. I knew I didn't want to keep this habit up, even though I was enjoying myself, so I stopped. I admit to thinking about it but I'm again on my little kick of being hardcore on my diet a the moment. I don't want anything to mess it up right now. I also admit it's hard for me to not socially drink since I haven't done it in a while but I feel I need to be responsible right now & be a good girl while in the losing phase.

It happens. I literally had 1/2 glass of wine for my first drink, BEFORE dinner with my husband for NYE 2010. My face went numb, my lips were tingly, I was truly tipsy. 20 minutes later, I "Felt" perfectly NORMAL.
The only safe way to prevent this is to know your own limit and be aware of intake over XX amount of time.

I should throw out there that I did NOT touch alcohol before being below goal weight.
Here's the why behind my abstinence with alcohol during the losing stage:
1) It's empty calories, has zero nutritional value, and it would NOT benefit my body in any way during the losing stage
2) During the rapid weight loss phase, our livers are working double time. Alcohol is processed through the liver, why make my liver work even harder and possibly cause more problems for my body.
3) I knew the thought process of "If I can't eat chicken, I can drink booze, it goes down way easier". AND, you take away a fat girl's food, alcohol looks awfully appealing.
It took me months, I'm talking 6-8 months to build up a decent tolerance to NOT get drunk fast/sober up fast. I was able to get a good buzz going and maintain it without getting slobbering drunk. I also learned eating before drinking help slow the process down. I learned that "snacking" while drinking was easier since alcohol relaxes the stomach (I actually learned this with my band because I puked so much with my band, I could have a glass of wine, 1/2 margarita before a meal and actually be able to eat, it's a common thing for some band patients who have difficulty eating), SO for me, I had to learn a balance.
I also NEVER skipped nutrient/protein dense meals to account for alcohol consumption. Those are all behaviors which lead to issus with alcohol post bariatric surgery. I knew about it all before I picked up my first drink.
